Need to turn on front headphone jack to a systemax vx2 computer

Assuming the speakers are working, you can test them by plugging them into any other headphone jack, for example your cell phone. Check drivers & etc on computer make sure sound card installed correct. Also verify you are using the correct jack, there may be several for example microphone line in if you have a 5.1 stereo card they may also be ports for the rear speakers.

Usually, when you boot a machine, the bottom of the screen briefly displays what function key you need to press to access "setup" (or BIOS). See if this info helps...

The jack might need replacement since it may be broken on the inside. Also check with your headphones on anther known working device to make sure that the issue is not with the headset.

I think most computers do not have headphones in the rear, just LINE OUT, which has no enough volume to be used for headphones.

Sounds like the jack on the computer is worn, dirty or bent therefore not making good contact with the plugs. The solution is to replace the jack, which is labor intensive- mostly to get to it inside the case and then you need the part (jack) Soldering may be necessary.

Welcome to the computer age. I looked up your HP W1907 monitor. It comes with a built in microphone and speakers but no audio jack for plugging in headphones. You will need to find an audio jack on your computer tower. Most new computers have audio and microphone jacks on their front face. In most cases there will be a picture of a microphone or headphones next to the jack to tell you what it is. If you can't find one on the front, look in the back. The headphone jack up front may not be connected to the PC's integrated audio on the motherboard (or to the PC's sound card if you purchased one with the system instead. There'll be an audio cable running from the front of the computer to a port on the motherboard. If you look at this motherboard diagram for the Vostro 220 (not the 420 or 220s), it'll be the port numbered "15" that's the opne for the audio for the front panel. You don't need the speakers plugged on the back to have the headphones work, but having them plugged in will at least tell you if the sound is working or not.

I have a friend with a systemax, same thing happened to him.

Go into the control panel, select sounds and audio devices, go over three tabs to the audio tab, make sure the sound default device is the onboard audio card. Should be all set.
