Question about Singer 3116 Simple

1 Answer

My Singer 3116 seized up while sewing last night. I was curious if anyone could explain to me how to disassemble the outer cover so I could at least look into the machine. I've done the regular cleaning maintenance, but I'm wondering if the machines insides need to be oiled. I'd rather take a look at it myself before I sent it out. Thanks!

Where can I find a power cord for singer simple 3116 sewing machine?

It looks like your power cord and foot pedal are incorporated into one unit, and you'll have to replace the foot pedal to get it. You can get it for $30 at sewing parts online, http://www.sewingpartsonline.com/singer-3116-simple-sewing-machine-parts.aspx?gclid=CLTXmrLC18ECFeHm7AodBioADg, and you can also get them from eBay by doing a search on Singer Simple 3116.

Singer 3116 handwheel stuck. Just hums

First, remove the bobbon, hook and anything in the lower part of the machine. try to turn the handwheel. Do not force it. If this does not free it up, take it to a technician. Could be seized or may have a broken gear.

Singer simple 3116 will not reverse

Sounds like spring or something disconnected from the lever. Take it in to your dealer or look at yourself carefully.

3116 just goes in reverse

It is possible the reverse lever is stuck in the wrong position Move it back to the forward position and see if it will work. Failing that, it's possible the machine is in buttonhole mode. Put it back to normal mode. If it still won't work, you probably have a seized mechanism which will require a technician to repair. If the machine is new enough to be under warranty return it to the store you bought it from for replacement or send it to the Singer warranty center listed on the paperwork that came with your machine.
