I believe the older versions had a release lever and cable system at the rear center. This was a 2 step, 2 handed on your knees process to release the lock on lever with your left hand and pull out and turn the lever with your right hand. This pulled on the cables to both motors to disengage the freewheel levers

Pride gogo think is in freewheel when it isn't

There is a micro switch that the lever engages to tell the controller the position of the lever. It's either not closing properly or is defective.

I strongly advise you to check the freewheel lever microswitch located on the side of the motor, also check the connection from the axle connection to the actual body were it comes apart. keep me updated please. regards GeWiz.

Hello could you please advise on how to get the back wheel sprocket off. thanks tony

Depends on whether it is a freewheel or free hub.

For a freehub, you need a chain spanner -- basically a long lever with chain on it to hold the large sprocket while you use a second one to unscrew the smallest cog. Once that is off, all the other cogs slide off.

For a freewheel (usually only on older bikes), if you look inside the smallest cog, you'll see some sort of a recess. On Suntour it would be 2 recesses to accept a 2-pinned removal tool. For Shimano, it is a splined remover that fits around the axle. Insert the freewheel removal tool, use the Quick release to hold it in place, and a large wrench to unscrew the freewheel. In this case the entire freewheel comes off in one piece. Once off, you can use the method for the freehub to remove the outer cog and each successive inner cog. Often it is easier to put the removal tool in a vice and turn the wheel rather than use a wrench.

I have a wheelchair using a DL 5.2i controller.when switched on it shows all lights blinking every 2 seconds and no power to the wheels.

Make sure that you are not in freewheel. If you can push the chair and the chairs rolls easily you are in freewheel, look for the freewheel levers and place them in the drive mode. If you are not in freewheel then you could be in sleep mode If you have a manual see if it tells you how to get out of sleep mode. If not within 10 seconds of turning the chair on try pressing the horn button twice and then turn off then back on to see if you stopped the blinking lights. I don't know with the older joysticks how else to get it out of sleep mode. If you are still having problems you can call Pride

I have a fairly old 1121 but cannot find any levers to go into freewheel. I have seen a modern one and can see them in that. Can you help?

Jackie I looked on the Pride Website and threy showed them behind each drive wheel above the motor facing the rear of the chair. Lift to place in freewheel and push down to engage. I hope this helps you

Drive wheel locking up

Further to my above answer,
check all connector blocks and make sure they are clean and not corroded if they are clean with emery paper or replace as needed. it might also be the motor brushes that are not making contact properly, these are located on the sides of the motor under a small black cover about the size of a UK 1p these unscrew and the brushes pull out, there is a spring attached that pushes the brush against the motor, take them out (one on ether side of each motor 2 in total to each motor) and clean with alcohol or similar, be careful not to damage them, as they are out use a Hoover to suck out any dust particles out of the motor housings, just put the tube over the holes you removed the brushes from and suck. then back to the brushes, when they are clean and dry replace them back in to the slot you removed them from, do not force, they should slide back with ease you need to place the spring and the gold cap back in and hold it there as you place the cover back and tighten up the covers, you will need to turn the spring cap around until it slot in. see picture

if this helps you please click "YES" button

good luck,
