Which firewall, please be more specific... The windows one or is it some other Antivirus/Firewall program you are using. A name and a version are the things i need to help you. But usually Antivirus programs have their own Turn off Firewall button when you right-click on their Icon. And you can turn the Windows firewall off from the Control Panel.

See step 2; it's a matter of just clicking the firewall protection to OFF, from the "set up firewall protection" menu.

Set Up Firewall Protection
You can set up firewall filters and firewall alert notifications on your wireless home network. You
can also block Java Applets, Cookies, ActiveX controls, popup windows, Proxies, and website
access. See Protection Level for more information.
To set the firewall protection level:
1. From any screen, click the Firewall-Protection Level menu link or click the Firewall menu
button on the SBG6782-AC Main Menu and then select Protection Level.
Figure 17 - Firewall Protection Level Screen
2. Click the Firewall Protection Setting drop-down button to select the firewall protection level.
Possible values: Low, Medium, High, or Off
Note: Selecting Off will disable firewall protection on your home network. Your computer(s)
and other Ethernet-enabled devices on your network will be at risk for possible attacks from
viruses and hackers.
3. Select each Web filter that you want to set for the firewall and then click Apply.

Trouble connecting to open WiFi networks

make sure your wifi is working perfect and turned on. Is it operating on windows 7? if so, just leave it work a while as is quite very common with windows 7 to take awhile with the configurations.

hope this helps.

I have a Toshiba M105-S3041 and the wifi will not stay connected. it will connect for a minute or two then drop it. if i repair the connection it works but it stays connected for a minute or two then drop....

Sometimes it is better to turn off firewall protection and limit your start up programs when you use wifi connection. Firewall protection is not recommended when using a wireless broadband or wifi because it blocks the signal especially on laptop computers.

My zyxel 660 hw works fine for 10 minutes, then starts disconnect

If the same thing is happening with the USB WIFI on the PC. This sounds like a problem with your PC rather than your router. Is your antivirus / spyware scanner up to date? If not up date it and run a full system scan. Also you should check to see if your Firewall is up to date, and that the wireless network you are connecting to is included in the safe zone area of your firewall.

1 more thing if you are using a Thrid party firewall (i.e. Norton, Zone Alarm, McAfee, Etc.) Make sure Windows Firewall is deactivated (in Conntrol Panel) having 2 firewalls on can lead to random problems

Connecting Ninentendo DS with Nintendo WiFi USB connector

The Windows XP Service Pack 2 firewall is actually Norton Personal firewall re-branded with a simplified front end, Microsoft couldn't get they're own firewall to do the job properly (got to love MS quality!). As such he Windows XP Service Pack 2 firewall will offer you as much protection as any other commercial firewall out there. Your Nintendo WiFi USB adapter uses soft AP, in other words it uses a software WiFi Access Point to connect your DS to the web, as well as being able to make a connection to the web it also needs to make a connection between your PC and the DS and you need to think of these as separate networks because that is in-fact what they are. Make sure the second network is allowed in your McAfee firewall, that the Nintendo software is allowed to act as a server and that it is allowed to serve DHCP, in other words that it is allowed to assign IP addresses. The McAfee User Interface is about as friendly, intuitive and helpful as a dead squirrel so this may be a good time to do a bit of reading on
