Hello, well, you can take off the right cover, with printer unplugged, and disconnect cables that connect to the scanner top cover area. the hinges have press lock that will require you to press up, and slide towards the front and lifting up at same time. the scanner will come off, using #10 torq bit, take hinges out of machine, if you some white grease or light weight lithium oil, use it in and around the actual hinge area, basicly what your working against is plastic on plastic, with a powerful spring, so do this carefully and try not to pinch your fingers, it hurts alot. try slowly to open and close hinge slowly, if it does not move freely, don't force or it will break, that spring used is under alot of pressure, so do it slowly, lube and try to move, lube and try to move. when it works smoothly put back together

Good day Steve.
The problem could be just the ink cartridge or the print head itself. Here are a few tips to try to correct this problem.
1.On the front panel of your printer, press Set up softhardware.jpg then press Tools. Choose Align Print head then press OK. Print head alignment will start. You will most probably get an alignment failed. This is already a sign of a hardware issue, in this case the print head.
Or Open HP Solution Center (click Start , click All Programs , click HP , and then click HP Solution Center ). If you have more than one All-in-One installed, make sure to select the correct All-in-One tab in HP Solution Center . Click Settings . Click Print Settings . Click Printer Toolbox . On the Device Services tab, click Clean the Print Cartridges , and then follow the onscreen instructions. Three levels of cleaning are available.
2.Manually check the ink cartridges for any leaks. Reseat each ink cartridge and clean them.
3.Perform a power reset. While the printer is on, unplug the power cable from the back of the printer. Wait for 30 seconds and then powering it back on.
Try to print and if it still the same issue, it is already a print head problem.

I opened the top to change inc and now it's stuck. what might the problem be?

Ok. We're going to need to write back and forth...maybe. Anyway, if you haven't already taken the ink cartridges out, close anything you've opened exactly in the order you opened them. You'll want to power the printer off then back on again. This should get the ink cartridges back in the right place for you to change them. Let me know if it doesn't and we'll try something else.

Printer lid wont shut

Make sure you have successfully seated the cartridges you replaced. They may be preventing the lid from closing.

HP 3310 lid wont close after ink install

You need to make sure that the cartridge is inserted correctly on the right slot.

Please see the steps and diagram from the user manual for the proper installation of the inks. (Page 148 to 150)

The lid to my hp 3310 is stuck open.

Check back by the hinges there should be a catch that locks the lid up just release the catch. If yours does not have this check to make sure you don't have to lift up again to release the lid. These are the only problems with that type of printer that I've seen, I hope this helps if not let me know and I'll do some research and try to find an answer for you. Good luck.

Access door will not closwe.

I have the same problem and found it's a broken right back hinge. The plastic that holds the pin in place is broken and the spring underneath is preventing the access door from closing properly. Unfortunately, I had to take it apart to see it. If hp (or any other computer company) stocked these cheap parts, they couldn't make money selling disposable computer products...sad but true. I'll be looking for a cheap 3310 for replacement parts for mine...

Ink in hp photosmart 3310

the printer should have software installed enabling you to opt, for a printer-ink cartridge change.
If the cartridge has a chip fitted, it may be discharged.
The chip is supposed to be charged up, for the printer to recognise the newly installed cartridge.
view your settings in control panel/printer/properties to see what options you have available.
