The mirror should never be touched. Yes, you need service. Contact the support section of the Fuji website for service information.

When using any lens, the view through the viewfinder has small spots like a liquid was sprayed on a optical component. What is this and how can I fix it?

It could be on the mirror, the underside of the focusing screen, or the back of the viewfinder. All three can be inspected visually.

The back of the viewfinder can be cleaned with any window cleaner. Don't spray any directly onto the camera, but rather onto a clean microfiber cloth and then wipe the viewfinder clean.

The mirror and the focusing screen are more delicate. First try a handheld blower (NOT canned compressed air). If that doesn't do it, try a camel-hair brush. Only then resort to wiping it with a clean dry microfiber cloth. Use common sense, and avoid scratching the mirror/focusing screen.

If it's on the inside, the camera will need professional cleaning.

Hello my question is about what I think is a mirror issue on my n75 Nikon camera. When I look through the viewfinder the picture appears fuzzy. I looked closely at the lens and it does not look like it...

First off, with no lens attached, it will always be fuzzy, there is nothing to focus the light. Second, if you're looking at the mirror, you should be able to tell if it's dirty - if it is, glass cleaner and a soft rag are all that are required.

I'd suspect however that neither are your issue. Either your focusing screen is out of place or damaged, or your camera's diopter correction (if it has it) has been moved, Look for a small dial right next to your viewfinder with a +/- on it, and with the lens attached, and focused, turn the dial until everything is in focus. If your camera has this dial, it'll be usually on the right side of the viewfinder window.

If it does not have it you'll need to seek a repair shop to check your focusing screen since the mirror is 99% not going to be the cause of your problem. If there are no shops locally, google KEH Camera. It'll run you $35 for an estimate, waived if you decide to have any needed repairs done.

The screen of the viewfinder has a black dot.. i tried to clean it but it cant be removed,..how can i removed it?

Remove the lens of your camera, do it in a clean room, look at the mirror insie the lens to see if the dot is not there rather that on the outside of your viewfinder.
If it is not there it might be on the inside part of the focusing screen. Still inside the camera look at the upper part of the body, the focusing screen looks opaque.

If you still cant find the dot it might be on the inner side of the focusing screen.
Here is a tutorial on how to remove it on a d70 it is essentially the same thing on your camera.
Otherwise it can also be on the inner part of the viewfinder. In this case I recommend to send the camera to a repair shop as the removing of the viewfinder seems to be more difficult on the d3000 than on other camera.

Hope this helps.

First off, that is the focusing screen and you have to learn: NEVER USE ANYTHING BUT A BLOWER AND A CAMEL HAIRS BRUSH TO CLEAN IT. REpair/replacement by a camera repair shop is authorized.

Nikon auto focus not working and all other settings come out blurry. Not sure how to get it to work. It makes a noise as if trying to focus and never shoots.

Okay well without repair the unit will not be fixed. the issue is autofocus sensor inside may have failed or is out of range. This can be taken care of at a camera shop. This cannot be fixed by a end user and over a email solution. A repair shop would be the recommended course of action.

Thanks and I hope this doesn ot effect how you rate.

My canon Rebel Xt EOs will not fully focus and take the picture when in automatic focus. It's been doing it for a day or so....I didn't do anything..I took the card out but that's really the only thing...

There are several possible reasons for it, so let me go through them, one by one.

1. Dirty or Defective lens. Check your lens, and if you have a way to get other lens to test the camera, please do it. This includes to check for proper cleaning of both the lens glass and the lens contacts.

Sometimes the iris mechanism in the lens is failing, so there is not adequate light through the lens, which causes this problem.

2. Behind the main mirror, there is the secondary mirror, which is used for auto-focus. I warn you that you have to perform the following with extreme precautions.

There is a spring that is located on the right side of the main mirror (seeing the front of your camera). such srping keeps in palce the secondary mirror. You need to move the main mirror with a tip of a pen (something plastic, not metal) without force so much such mirrors, and don't touch the shutter blades behind the mirrors.

Moving the mirrors you will see ans sense such spring. IF the spring is lose or missing, then that is the reason that such Auto-Focus is not working.

3. Dirty contacts on the camera where the lens is attached. Just clean them (No liquids. Just an eraser pencil or dry wipe will do the job).

4. Defective DC/DC board that controls the lens auto-focus mechanism. Unfortunately, only it can be confimed in a Camera repair shop.

I hope the above can help you to identify why your camera is failing.

If still you need support, please let me know.

Regards,

Lint on mirror

The lint you are seeing is probably up inside the viewfinder on top of the focusing screen. It may be obnoxious, but it won't affect the pictures.

The only way to clean it out is to drop the focusing screen down and remove it and clean out the dust and lint.

It is a fairly delicate job, but if you are careful and have a pair of nice tweezers to drop the screen down with, you might be able to do it. Otherwise, it shouldn't cost too much to have your local camera repair shop do it for you.

I am having the same problem with my Rebel. Canon recommended cleaning the contacts on the camera and on the lens. After that they recommended sending it in for repairs. Let me know if anything works for you as mine still does not work.
