I cant login to my Compaq Armada 1700 because i forgot the login and password please help

Which Password? Bios Password? Hard Drive Password? Windows Welcome Screen User Login Password?

Which Operating System?

OK, if you are running Windows 7, Microsoft tightenedsecurity on it so you've got to have a password reset disk which 99% of thepeople who own laptops with windows 7 fail to do. It should be one of thefirst things you do when you buy the laptop. Otherwise, you're faced withreinstalling the Operating System or possibly doing a System Recovery.

If you're on Windows XP or Vista try this:

Turn off the computer, then hit the power button to turn it back on andimmediately start hitting the F8 key repeatedly until you see the Safe Modeoption. Select SAFE MODE and let the computer boot up. When it getsto the User Login screen it will show the Administrator userid and the useridfor which you forgot the password. Sign in as the Administrator (hopefullyyou didn't put a password on it and forgot it too). Once the desktopappears it will look different, the screen will be darker and the icons bigger, but this is normal for safe mode.

Click Start/Control Panel/User Accounts
When the User Accounts screen opens, click on the userid for which you forgotthe password. Select the option to REMOVE PASSWORD.

Reboot your machine.

Armada 1700 - When I turn it on, it states, 162 - system options not set. What is wrong? I only use this laptop for journal notes. Thank you - Dennis DEMAR12AC

You may need to locate, test and replace the battery deep inside the unit. It has the shape of a watch battery and may be specific to your make and model. Sometimes called the CMOS battery, it keeps the machine remembering its configuration while it is turned off.

Have a Compaq Presario 1700 and my sister doesnt remember the pass word to get into the computer......Right when I turn on the computer the password screen comes up, how do I get pass this????? please...

Hi,
When you start up the computer press ctrl+alt+delete twice. Then in the password box that appears type 'administrator' in the username and hit enter. Then once you are in the admin account hit start then control panel--> users --> your account. Then change password.
Please rate this solution.Regards.

Password removal on compaq armada 1700 laptop

The easiest way to remove it is with a loop back.

You can get one from here.

Just make sure you confirm with the seller that it's compatible with your model. There are other ways but the amount of time it takes...it's just smarter getting rid of it this way.

Keyboard stuck

Disconnect the power cord and remove the battery. Wait for 30 seconds. Next, put the battery back in the laptop and reconnect the power cord. Turn the laptop on.

Be sure to also run a virus scan\malware check and update all your drivers.

My laptop compaq armada1700 ask me power-on password what can i do?

Follow the instructions of the service manual for the Armada 1700 (you need to have some skills):

2.2 Clearing Passwords
The power-on password prevents use of the computer until the password is entered. The setup password prevents unauthorized changes to Computer Setup. To clear the passwords, you must remove all power from the system board. If you do not know the passwords, use the following procedure to clear the password:

1. Remove all battery packs from the battery bay and MultiBay, if applicable.
2. Disconnect the AC power.
3. Remove the real-time clock battery.
4. Wait five minutes.
5. Reconnect the AC power.
6. Restart the computer. During Power-On Self Test (POST, a "162 System Options not set" message appears.
7. Shut down the computer, then disconnect AC power again.
8. Replace the real-time clock battery.
9. Install the battery pack(s).
10.Proceed with the troubleshooting procedures.

Point 10 means you need to do the setup via disquette to set the date and time again, to avoid the "162 system option not set" message of the POST.
