Question about Kenmore 24032\24036 Top Load Washer

1 Answer

I have a Kenmore washer model 110-20712991. the timer doesn't advance. Wherever I put it, it stays there and only does that functions, never advancing to the next position. Is there any test i can perform to determine if the timer is bad or it is something else? Also, I have instructions on how to open the console but do not have instructions on how to remove the timer. How do i remove the knobs from the front of the console and what is the procedure to remove the timer.

It does sound like a bad timer:

See the following: This is a Whirlpool / Kenmore Service Manual for top load, direct drive washers. It has testing instructions as well as directions for removing each of the two types of timers.

If your timer is the one with a knob that un-screws, use a thin needle nosed pliers to hold the shaft going thru the timer while you un-screw the knob.

Kenmore washer model 11044722401 how to manually advance the cycles? Sears technician showed me how a few years ago-- so I know it can be done. It is a technician diagnostic test/ function.

With the washer off, unplug it and plug it back in the lights should blink twice. Then press the wash temp and water level keypads at the same time. The water level should stay on but all others should stay off. If this happens the washer is in diagnostic test mode. Hope this helps

Washing machine does not advance cycles automatically

More than likely a bad timer. You can buy the parts on-line, one source is repairclinic.com. Go to that page and enter your model number and look for timers. I found several there for your machine depending on the options the machine has.

Why wont my kenmore elite sm9711034 wont cycle automatically?

This is almost always caused by a bad time. The solution is to replace the timer. What happens is the timer has a small motor on it that turns the timer, if the motor burns out or the timer gears wear the timer doesn't advance like it should.

Have the timer tested. If that doesn't remedy the situation, have the wiring checked in the machine.

The cycle doesn't advance When the cycle doesn't advance, it's probably the timer or a cold-water supply problem: It's the timer, if your washing machine fills with water and begins agitating, but the timer never advances--or if the washer is in a spin cycle and the timer won't advance. Then you need to replace the timer. It may be a cold-water supply problem, if the washing machine fills with water, agitates, drains, and spins, but then doesn't fill with rinse water. See There's no cold water.

Kenmore model 110.24642300 will not cycle through wash cycles...will stay stuck in wash cycle until the knob is manually turned to rinse/spint/etc. Would this be a bad knob or timer or both? Thanks!

Start a cycle and remove the knob. If it still stays in agitation mode and won't advance to the spin, then you have a bad timer, or no power to the timer motor(very unlikely). If your washer goes through the cycles with the knob off then you have a bad timer knob. I have seen stripped knobs causing the timer to bind up and not advance. Good Luck Appliance Specialists

My kenmore washing machine dosnt cycle from one function to the next can anyone help

With the limited information, my initial leaning is toward the timer being bad, not advancing through the cycles. The timer is where practically every function is controlled on a washer. I can't think of any other item that would give the same symptom

The timer runs but dryer does not heat or drum will not turn .

hi friend,
Is your washer getting power? The first things to check if your washer suddenly stops working are your circuit breaker, lid switch, or fuse box. After making sure there is power to the appliance, you can start troubleshooting other problems. To verify there is power at the outlet, try plugging in a small electric appliance such as a hair dryer or radio.
Sometimes the motor will overheat and then requires a cool down period before it will restart.
Is the machine in a pause cycle? Is the lid up? Washers will not spin or agitate if the lid is up. There is a lid switch probe that can sometimes become dislodged. This is generally a little plastic piece that is in the hole under the lid on the washer. This probe activates the lid switch when the lid is put down. Manually advance the timer if the pause is too long.
There are some washer models out there that will not run at all until the water is filled to the level that has been selected. Sometimes the mechanical timer knob on certain washers doesn’t exactly line up with the graphics on the control panel. You can try advancing the timer slightly and pull the knob out again to see if it will start.
hope this helps u
