  • First, plug it in! You want it to be somewhere NOT enclosed.
  • Next, plug your controller into it. This is of course a wireless controller - but you plug it in to charge it up and also to get a direct connection to the unit. The system will want it connected for this part.
  • now just provide the information needed.

Problem with the Sony Playstation 3 (PS3) Console PS3 says DNS error (80710102) when i try to connect to the internet with a wired connection

Try changing your DNS settings on the PS3 or on the router
Changing the DNS on your router: Go to 192.168.1.1 Default password is: admin Static DNS1: 208.67.222.222 Static DNS2: 208.67.220.220
Those DNS setting are from OpenDNS
After doing this, reconnect your PS3 to the router and set it to Automatically adjust the settings. Once you have reconnected, check if you are still having the DNS problem.
If you are still experiencing the problem, try changing the DNS directly from the PS3 Go to Internet Connection Settings and set everything to Auto except DNS When asked if you should set the DNS automatically, choose "Manual" Input the same DNS settings: Static DNS1: 208.67.222.222 Static DNS2: 208.67.220.220

I plugged my PS3 into one TV and after changing the setting to SCART I tried to plut it into another TV and it will not load up

Hi,

When you're switching to a new or another TV other than the one that you're using you will need to reset the video settings on the PS3.

To do this turn the PS3 off so the red light is on. Hold down the power button on the PS3 until you hear a beep. Release the power button and press it again.
That should have reset the video settings so you will be able to set the video settings again on the other TV and access the PS3 menu to set it up.

Regards.

Desire to transfer all game information from PS3 40 to PS3 80. PS3 80 has information on hardrive that I would like to delete first so I can set up with new I.D. etc. from PS3 40. Then after the PS3 40...

Go to Settings, System Settings, Back Up Utility.

You'll have to hook up an external usb drive with a good amount of space.

Use the backup utility.

Swap the 40gb drive with the 80gb drive.

Follow the onscreen PS3 prompts. A message will possibly pop telling you that you need to download a firmware file etc. If it does download the latest PS3 firmware from here:

http://www.us.playstation.com/support/systemupdates/ps3

You'll need to have it installed on a folder on your external drive like this:

PS3-->UPDATE-->firmware file

The playstation will look for the file once you press the SELECT and START buttons at the same time on your ps3 controller.

Follow the prompts, it should be straightforward.

After everything is done.

Go back into Settings, System Settings, Back Up Utility.

Click Restore and then follow the prompts.

Boom you're back in business.

Let me know if you have any other problems and check out my PS3 blog here for tips and other info:

Thanks!
