UPS batteries are only good for 2-5 years depending on their usage. I have all of my clients replace batteries every 4-years no matter what. I recommend that you write down the serial number of your UPS and call APC. They have some of the best phone support around. You can explain your problem in detail to them and they can guide you to the best resolution. ((800) 555-2725 / www.apc.com)

BTW: Enterasys is just a rebranding of an APC product so they won't be as much help as APC can.

Good luck! Please vote for my solution if it helps.

Hello, I recently picked a MGE Evolution 850 UPS from an abandoned facility, I brought it home, and I left it charging for about 4 hours. However, when I pressed the power button, nothing happened, no

Firstly, isolate the troubled area by inputting battery equivalent healthy voltage from any suitable DC source. If inverter works, then the problem is in battery, if it doesn't, check the transformer and output transistors of the inverter.

Can't get any power on the battery side of my ups

If you have had that UPS in service for two years, the battery could be dead in which case the issue of backup power is moot.

You need to replace the battery. Go to APC site and order the battery for your model. http://www.apc.com/resource/include/techspec_index.cfm?base_sku=br500i go to about the middle of the page, there are two models for replacement batteries. If you're not sure which one, call APCs customer support. 800-555-2725 I don't know what the shelf life is for your model but the battery usually last 3 yrs or so. Your battery is probably dead now.

if there was a short circuit, chances are that its toast. get a new one. DON'T ATTEMPT TO OPEN IT YOURSELF. THESE THINGS STORE POWER SO YOU CAN BE ELECTROCUTED EVEN IF YOU UNPLUG IT.

Overload Red button is on even after pressing reset button @ back

Try unplugging some equipment from the UPS. The total load should be less than 865 W. Printers and scanners often are culprits. Some gaming desktop computers can have a power supply that will be too much for this UPS. (I've found that even having the printer on the surge only part of the UPS can be a problem. I have the printer on a separate surge protector.)

Since the overload is new, did you add any equipment to the UPS recently or upgrade components?

If you reduce the load, and the problem continues, the UPS may have a fault in the circuitry. If it is under warranty, contact APC.

I hope this helps.

(I have replaced APC units after 3+ years when they can't properly recharge the battery - with a new battery. The symptoms are 1) getting a overload when a small load is on the UPS. Small load - desk lamp, 13" TV or 2) not keeping the item on when the power goes off.)

House power fluctuates, UPS and computer die.

Sounds like the internal battery of the UPS needs replacement. Contact APC and ask for a qoute for a replacement battery/service. It'll probably work out a cheaper to buy new.

Make sure you dispose of the old unit properly if you do replace

APC back UPS 400 fails to give back up

I have the same problem with an apc smart-ups VS 650.

New batteries - charge in batteries is good (also tested under load).

When AC power fails, no power is supplied to PC connectors by the UPS.

UPS self test works fine. UPS does not report any problems via software - Power Management under Windows XP.
