Check the wireless access point you are using for problems. If someone bought the same brand near you then they may be using the same channel which would cause the problem you are describing. In that case change the WAP to use a different channel.

Good Luck!

First be sure to check the drivers for your Netgear WG111 are up to date and correspond to your Operating System. It is important to note that there are three versions of the WG111. If you visit the Netgear's Knowledge Base site you can see the difference between the 3 versions (v1,v2 and v3) and select the one that corresponds to you. If you don't know what version you have look for a v1, v2 or v3 after the model name:

moz-screenshot.pnglevega.jpg

After you determine which version you have, let suppose its v3, click the link corresponding to it and download the Software Version 2.0.0 (Supports Win 7) if you are using Windows or the WG111v3 Mac OS Driver Version 1.0.0.0 if you are using a Mac. Once you download the file, run the executable file and install the driver/software for your device.

If your problem is not with drivers then youshould look at you Wireless Network Setup. Please Check that the router has a source of a working internetconnection plugged in correctly via an ethernet cable. Also, routers need fromtime to time to be rebooted. Try disconnecting the router from the power sourcefor 15 to 10 seconds and connect it again.

Post more details concerning your OS, the router you are using and what type ofinternet connection you have(DSL or Cable).

WILL THE NetGear : WG111 54 Mbps WORK WITH ANY WIRELESS ROUTER IF SO WHAT DO I DO TO MAKE IT WORK thank you

Well this adapter works on 2.4 Ghz G standard network. You can use any router that operates at 2.4 Ghz.

To make it work, perform the steps below:

1. Double click on WG111 icon from the right hand extreme bottom corner of the screen, near the system clock, in the system tray.
2. Click on networks tab.
3. Click on the SCAN button - This will show a listing of all available networks.
4. Select the network you wish to connect to and click on the "CONNECT" button.
5. This will automatically take you back to the settings tab.
6. If you are using WEP security then Enter the WEP KEY under the option 'Enter Key manually' under the settings Tab.
7. Apply Settings .
8. This should get you connected to your selected network.
9. Click on the 'About' tab and check the IP address.
10. If you are getting an IP address in the format of 192.168.1.x, try to go online.
11. If you are not getting an IP or the IP is in the format of 169.254.x.x, restart the computer and then try to go online.

If issue persists, please contact the router manufacturer for the exact information on how to find the WEP KEY.

Also, disable any firewalls which you have installed on the computer.

Hope this helps.

No internet on Wireless home network despite ''excellent'' signal

When Windows Wi-Fi utility reports available wi-fi networks, does yours show up? I would imagine so, if you're being prompted for the key, and you entered it. So, you should be connected to the LAN at that point.

Then it is a question of connectivity. Using "My Network Places", see if you can detect the other computers on the Local Area Network. If they don't show up, but all indicators say you are connected, right click on My Computer, then Properties. On the popup box, you will see "computer name", and beneath that, "workgroup". Make sure that computer is in the same workgroup as the rest of the network. If not, the bottom button will allow you to change the name of the workgroup.

If you can see the other computers on your network, but you just can't reach the internet, take a look at whatever firewalls you are running, and make sure that PC isn't being blocked by one of them. An easy way to check is to temporarily turn all of them off, and see if things start working.

Also, if you can access your hub (using the web interface), check there and see if the Dell desktop is showing up as a connected device at the router.

I would almost bet it is a workgroup issue, but if it isn't, let me know. There are several other things we can take a look at.

Cheers
Nick
