Question about Toshiba D-VR4 DVD Recorder/VCR
We recently purchased this recording/vhs combo to transfer some VHS tapes from our kids years ago.....I made on on a DVD+R .....the front of
the book said it takes all formats....-R or +R and of course the -Rw and +RW......I finalized as it said....gave to grandaughter and she said it
did not work in her DVD player....
As I read the "play by play" instructions, it said to insert a DVD -R in the
machine and then proceed.......why does the front of the book say it takes
both - or + and then instructions say -R.....?
Does that mean I have to always use -R.......there was something about
making the disc. VR compatable....I pushed that button as I want it to
be compatable with any DVD player.....
I was sold the +R DVD's by salesman who said they are best in all machines.....does he not have a "clue?"....
thanks for any help..
The unit will only allow 2 hour recording on the DVD+R format. The DVD-R format is adjustable for longer recording time, just understand that the longer recording times = the lower the quality of the recording.

If it won't PLAY VHS tapes it must have a serious mechanical problem (if it even loads) or its heads are glommed up, so it obviously won't record them either. When's the last time you ran a cleaning tape through it?
Solve the load or playback problem and it will probably record.
Time and poor storage conditions are the mortal enemies of tapes. Store the in a 'played
