Hey, i asked you how to solve my problem with my video camera bout the screen being black all the time and the video camera telling me to take the lens cap off. you told me to check the upload mode. yes i am a bit silly, but i dont know where to find the upload button (so to speak!) now when i open the screen and turn it on, the screen has a white tinge to it and one tiny picture on the lcd screen. it being two arrows down the bottom middle of the screen, a hand on one side and a mountain? on the other. this dissapears every so often? help me im going crazy !!!! thank you. :)

JVC camera has common issue with CCD Imager defects. Please mention correct model and your country name to provide you further help as JVC has free repair scheme for few models. I couldn't find GR-D23EK. Just as reference, click JVC GR-D22US to see problem and details.
There is a good chance that the iris is stuck shut. Try tapping the side of the camera lightly to try and release it. If the camera can show you old pictures that are currently stored correctly, I would suspect the iris.
Looking through the problems posted for all jvc camcorders it became obvious that mine was CCD problem, encountered by many others. Also jvc are fixing this for free, so if you have this problem go to a jvc sevice centre and you should have no problems. Suffice to say this site was invaluable in diagnosing my problem, and you have been recommended to my friends. Thankyou, I'll be back.
