Question about Hotpoint DY46 Style Line Stainless Steel Electric Double Oven

1 Answer

Hotpoint DY46 Hello I wondered if you could help. When we were cooking the other day from the model of oven as listed above - the electric in the whole house blew. We put back the electric from the box but now noticed that my fan assistance main oven no longer works. I put it on as normal and everything seemed to be working ok and when I checked the food it was stone cold, didnt heat up. I take it I need to order a new element for this cooker but was not sure. If we do order this - can you tell me if this is something that is easy to install ourselves or should we get an engineer. Thank you so much Lisa

Hi there,
had the same problem with my Electrolux. Element blew and the fan stopped working and food was stone cold. I pulled the element out - had to remove the rear panel to get to the wires but the element came out from inside the oven by removing a few screws. Went off to the local Applaince store and bought a new element which was pretty dear as this model was made in NZ. Replaced the element put it all back together and away she went. If you do it yourself make sure you TURN OFF THE POWER at the power box. It is a good idea to have an electrical tester to make sure the element is the problem. These are usually not hard to repair and it is usually just a few screws to remove the rear cover and possibly a cover inside the oven to get the element out. A Handy Person will be able to do this job. Hope this helps.

Bryan

The main oven of my DY46 Hotpoint is not heating up

It will be the element that has gone, and it is easy to replace.
Remove the cover at rear of oven compartment, and you will see the fan element, just undo fixing screw, and replace element.

My oven wont heat up light and fan work I have visualy checked the element and it looks ok but not sure how do you know/test,if ok what else could it be hotpoint DY46

Even though the element look's o/k, it is more than likely faulty, more so if the fan is working o/k.
The only 100% test to make sure if it is faulty, is to test it with a meter.
In my experience I would advise you to replace the element.
Please rate my solution.
Thanks.

Oven not heating

Hello.
If the fan is working, but there is no heat, then it is the fan oven element that needs to be replaced.
It has nothing to do with timer on this occasion.
Remove panel at rear of oven compartment, there you will see the round element.
Undo fixing screws, and remove element, disconnect leads and fit onto new element, refit new elemrnt, replace cover, and job done!!!

Please leave a fixya rating for my solution.
Thankyou

Hotpoint dy46 x oven

Hi there,

Usually with ovens not heating up the element has gone and needs replacing. A few checks to do before going to the expense and trouble of replacing are to check the House Power Box Fuses to make sure none a blown - especially look for the one relating to the Oven or Range. If blown replace the fuse wire. If it blows again you have a problem with the power point or appliance. Does the Oven Fan work? If so chances are the oven is getting power as is the element and your house electrical lines to the Oven are fine and the element needs replacing. Not knowing the particular Brand you have amkes it difficult say how to remove the element. Some elements are accessible from inside the oven - others you have to remove the oven and get access from behind by removing a panel. Whatever you do if you do decide to remove the element MAKE SURE you TURN OFF THE POWER to the Oven. Hope this helps.
