Question about HP Pavilion Elite M9150F Desktop PC

1 Answer

I have a 3 yr old HP M9150f with Vista and 2 hard drives for gaming. Last week it froze and no longer will start up windows. We did the restart to previous dates, factory restore and have tried to install a new version of windows 7. Nothing will work to make the computer start up. It just freezes before windows will start. We also tried replacing the hard drive and t still will not start windows up.

If your computer freezes then please just follow the below steps and you can fix it.

First of all open your cabinet of your system and observe it properly. Take a note of everything so you can fix
every thing at it s correct place,.
There on the mother board you will find a fan shown below

I have a 3 yr - 5f2c7a1.jpg

Take a note the it is fixed properly,it should not be lose ,if it then press it and fix it.

Now start your PC and if you are getting the same problem then try formatting your system with windows XP
.There also can be "Over heating" on it.
In this case you have to apply a semi liquid called "Heat sink" on the CPU that is under the fan in the above
picture. There is a chip and apply the Heat sink on it and then start your system will be ready if not then
surely it need repairing

Hope the above information is helpful to you.
Thanks.

Yes you can, for hard drives larger than 2TB you will need a 64 bit operational system like Windows 7, XP recognizes hard drives up to 2TB.

no easy way :(
1 choice -
http://www.icompute.info/System_restore_from_xp_cd.htm
try to do system restore from repair console

2 choice -
reinstall windows over the old one.
this will require correct drivers & reinstall of all software. To avoid loss of documents - don't format & don't use same users names as last install or put in new hard drive and make old hard drive as secondary.

both choices you need to get into the bios to change the boot order so cd boot first to get into the windows cd if it is'nt set yet

Need too restore to factory

The HP Mini laptop comes with either the Windows 7 or Windows Vista operating system.
You can restore the HP Mini to its factory settings using the laptop's recovery partition.
Restoring the HP Mini to its original factory settings will get rid of hard to eliminate viruses on the laptop's hard drive.
A factory restoration is also a good way to get rid of older files still stored on the computer that you no longer need and start with a clean slate.

Windows Vista
Click "Start" in the lower-left corner of your HP Mini Windows Vista home screen, then type "Recovery" into the Search box at the bottom of the Start menu. Click "Recovery Manager" in the list of options that appears above the Search box. The HP Recovery Manager will open. Click "Advanced Options" and then "System Recovery." Click "Next." Your HP Mini will restart. The HP Recovery Manager will open up automatically after the restart is complete. Click "System Recovery," and then click "Next." Click "No" if a message pops up on your screen asking if you want to use Microsoft System Restore. Select "Recover without backing up your files," and then click "Next." The restoration process begins. This could take between 30 and 90 minutes, depending on the of your hard drive and how much information you have stored on it. The HP Mini will restart when the laptop has been restored to its original factory settings, and you will be prompted to set up Windows Vista. Windows 7
Click the "Start" icon in the lower-left corner of your HP Mini Windows 7 home screen. Click "All Programs" and then click "Recovery Manager." Click "Recovery Manager" again to open the HP Recovery Manager program. Click "System Recovery" from the list of options beneath the "I need help immediately" section on the left side of the program. The HP Mini will automatically restart and open the HP Recovery Manager. Click "System Restore," and then click "Next." Click "No" if a message pops up on your screen asking if you want to use Microsoft System Restore. Select "Recover without backing up your files," and then click "Next." The restoration process could take between 30 and 90 minutes, depending on the of your hard drive and how much information you have stored on it. The HP Mini will restart when the laptop has been restored to its original factory settings, and you will be prompted to set up Windows Vista.

If you don't have multiple drives, the fastest way is to reinstall the OS. It will format the disc as part of the clean installation.

My HP Pavillion Elite m9150f desktop (Vista Home

Hi,

You have nothing to worry about as this is normal operations. All the computer is doing is checking drives and reading any disks that maybe in the drive.
If there is no disk in the drive the LED indicator light will still come on but should resume Windows quicker.

Regards.

I have an HP Pavilion Elite m9150f desktop PC. I'm getting ''Boot Path error code BIOHD-5 Failed''.

Could be one of two things: either the BIOS has lost the settings for the hard drive, which is uncommon unless the PC is more than 5 years old or been electrically shocked, or the hard drive is going bad. hard drives usually only last about 3-5 years on average. Western Digital even less.

COMPUTER WONT COME ON

Vista has a repair tool you can try to use to resolve your problem.

http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/tutorials/tutorial148.html

If that doesn't resolve, then you may want to see if you can run any diagnostics on the hard drive. Since the computer is only 2 months old, it should be under warranty from the manufacturer if there is a problem with the hard drive or Vista

very much possible.insert yr vista cd in yr cd/dvd rom drivethen on yr system go to bios setting make sure first boot device is cd rom. then boot uy system it will ask u to press any key to boot from cd rom. so now press any key on yr key board and the rest is don by the vista all u do is just selct options like language when it ask u or say registration key. then to an extend, it will restart or ask u to press enter to restart. after restarting u dont have to press any key to boot from cd rom again plz take note. if it ask u to press any key dont press after a while it will then boot and continue from where it stopt last. so u just seat back n watch it install.
