Question about Canon PowerShot SX100 IS Digital Camera

Photos show on camera but not on computer

I have a memory card on which I can see the photos if it's in the camera, but when I put the card in the SD slot on my computer, it says its empty. Any other card works fine, so its not the hardware.
WHAT is going on? How do I download the pics? (Have tried data recovery software).

Unfortunately that has the same result. For some reason the camera can read the card but not the computer. Most puzzling!

No, no folders or files, just a mass of data. Maybe I should copy that? It doesn't show up as anything clickable or draggable though.

The issue is purely with the drivers as Canon doesnt use universal driver...

First remove the detected imaging device by going to device manager.

Insert the CD accompanied with Camera.
User the driver and install application.
Then connect the camera with USB cable..

It will work fine.

If your photos and videos are stored on the memory card, then remove the memory card from the camera and insert it into an USB memory card reader. Connect this USB memory card reader and memory card into the USB port of your working computer. Your computer will see this as an USB Mass Storage Device or an external storage device; you can then open the folder on the memory card and copy the photos and to your computer. Can I recover the photos?

Chances of recovery can be high as long as you act as soon as possible and stop using the digital camera to take more photos or videos, also keep the camera memory card in good shape (no physical damage).

Then you can rely on a digital camera data recovery software to get the job done and retrieve your photos. Here shows a list of good ones (for PC/Mac) http://www.digital-camera-recovery.com/

You'll need to connect the camera (mass memory card) to your computer. Then install the program to start scan (the card or your PC hard drive) & recover your files.

The SD memory card slot in located on the side og your camera. Push the SD card and it will pop out.
The photos are stored on the SD memory and removing it from the camera will not lose the photos stored on this SD memory card.

My Pentax Optio S5z does not store images to SD

Copy your photos to the SD card in the camera. http://www.pentaximaging.com/files/manual/OptioS5z_web.pdf p. 136
Transfer all photos to your computer from your SD card, and then put the card back into your camera. Try looking through your manual to see if there are any other settings that are required in order to save photos to the memory card.

How do I download my pictures without the cd

Usually you don't need any special software to download photos from most digital cameras. Try connecting your camera to the computer with the USB cable and then going to My Computer and seeing if the camera shows up as an additional device or hard drive on your system. If so, you can just manually copy or move the photos from the camera to the computer. You can also use free software such as Irfanview. to copy or move the photo files from your camera to your computer, and to view and edit your photos on the computer.

You can also remove the SD memory card from the camera and then put it in a memory card reader on your computer, and copy the files that way. If your computer doesn't have a built-in SD memory card reader you can buy one - they are very inexpensive, under $20 and available at most computer and camera stores. Just make sure you get one for "SD Memory Cards".
