Question about MGE Pulsar Evolution 2200 (esv22) UPS System

Open Question

As soon the equipment is turned on the display indicates "internal fault serv. required". By using the enter pushbutton, the screen shows : fan fault 007 although the three fans runs correctly. I changed also the fans but the problem is still on. The UPS seems to correctly work both with batteries and from AC line. The switching from AC to Batteries and viceversa is ok, the load is constantly supplied. During operations, despite the output voltage is constant the led 20 (green) and 22(red) randomly bounces and the speed of the fans changes a little. Thanks a lot for the help !

I hate to tell you this, and you may dissagree with me. You will never get an out-put because I think that the ouput diode is shot.

That may be why your dad is not using the unit. Sometimes not knowing what is wrong with the unit, and then pawn it off on someone else to try a figure out the problem. you may well find that it is damaged beyound repair based on cost of repair. Buy a new one.

SOURCE: ups temprature fault

From what info you gave me. It sounds to me like it is either too small for the load, or it is in a confined space where heat is building up (UPS has to be outside of a desk office, etc.) or the rectifier is going bad and heating up. I would check to see if it does it by hooking up a small load to it like a radio or something, and if it is in the open, not overloaded then rectifier is bad,I see it alot. I am a Master Electrician and have worked on many UPSs'. Remember that if you keep a UPS loaded to it's full potential (which you shouldn't do) it will get hot. The rule is to only load it up to 80% of it's rating and you will be fine. To find out how many amps it will handle you simply devide the VA of the UPS by the supply voltage. Example: 1200va UPS supplied by 120v. is good for 10 amps. 1200/120 = 12 amps, then it is wise to add 25% more to the watts or amps when sizing them. Also, if it has a cooling fan make sure it isn't blocked by lint and is working, if it isn't working it will get hot fast. Good luck!

SOURCE: I have an MGE Galaxy 3000 15KVA which i replaced the batteries.

This is Easy,

MGE software is exclusive to them, they do this so that in the event the UPS needs any work you have to use them for remedial work, the problem is because they hold the monopoly they charge through the roof for parts and labour. you will need a factory trained engineer to turn up with a laptop to switch off the "Maintenance Alarms" I have an engineer that has the Software and availabilty to parts and we are much cheaper than MGE direct.

if you need any UPS help contact Glenn Prince @ Adept Power Solutions Ltd 01264 326726 or go to website www.adeptpower.co.uk

The screen went black the litte red lite blinks...

the light indicates an internal electronic fault with your set
projection TV`s have integrated protection circuits
built into the circuit design, these circuits turn the
power off automatically when a fault has bin detected this
is in order to prevent a more costly repair, these circuits monitor
power supply , vertical and horizontal deflection
over voltage, or x ray, and also faults with convergence circuits.
Diagnosing these faults require test equipment and a good knowledge of
electronic repair techniques, and also a repair manual.

Toshiba a200 laptop Have black screen even tho laptop has booted up, going by the usual sounds.Took battery out and used ac adapter, but same problem.Switched power off several times, left off over night...

You could have a defective screen - follow this to determine the fault.

Defective CCFL backlight, it may have the following symptom:

  • Screen flashs on red/pink and off.
  • Picture stays on in red and slowly be come normal.
  • Picture flickering with dim display.
  • Picture flickering on and off.
All these symptoms indicate that the LCD backlight lamp (CCFL Lamp) has reached the end of the life and all you need to do is replacing the CCFL lamp

Connect an external monitor to your laptop and power it up, if you see the normal Windows images then the video card and laptop is OK and the problem is definitely the backlight.

Dim image and/or dark display on the laptop's LCD screen indicates a faulty LCD backlight and it could be the inverter that supplies high voltage to the CCFL lamp or it is the CCLF lamp is nearly burnt out or burnt out, most likely this is the case.
The inverter can be replaced easily but the CCLF lamp is more time consuming and requires soldering skills.

Fan flow error 1611 I/O

The ProLiant DL380 G3 server requires that both primary and redundant fans exist in a specific configuration in order to perform optimally. Any deviation from the specified configuration will cause one of the above error messages to occur and the internal Health LED to illuminate. In a ProLiant DL380 G3 server without the redundant fan option, the server will shut down after the error message is displayed. In a server with the redundant fan option, the internal Health LED will illuminate and the appropriate error message regarding fan redundancy will be displayed. The purpose of this document is to detail the required configuration for both primary and redundant fans.
DETAILS Both primary and redundant fans in the ProLiant DL380 G3 server must be configured to meet specific requirements in order to avoid the error messages above and in some instances, subsequent shutdown of the server.
All primary fan locations (2, 4, 5, 6 and 7) must be populated with a fan before the redundant fan locations (1, 3, or 8) are populated. If a primary fan location is left unpopulated, the server will display one or more of the error messages shown above. In addition, the internal Health LED (the top LED on the front panel of the server) will display the status of the fans.
When the redundant fan option is used, all redundant fan locations must be populated. ProLiant servers do not support partial population of redundant fans. If any redundant fan location is populated without also populating all other redundant fan locations in the server, the fan system will not be fully redundant and one or more of the error messages above will be displayed.
Figure 1 below illustrates a ProLiant DL380 G3 server configured with all eight fans installed for fan redundancy. The server airflow is divided into three zones: processor, I/O and power supply. Shared fans 4 and 7 each provide airflow for two zones. If a shared fan fails, the failure is experienced in both zones.
Figure 1: ProLiant DL380 G3 server configured with all eight fans installed for fan redundancy
The internal Health LED (the top LED on the front panel of the server) indicates failed or missing components. The internal Health LED should be observed to determine the status of the fans as follows:
RED LED: A red LED indicates that the minimum fan requirements have not been met. Minimum fan requirements indicate that all primary fan slots must be populated with functioning fans.
  • If the 1611 fan "x" is not present (where "x" is the fan location) error message is displayed at POST and the internal Health LED is red , then a primary fan is missing.

  • If the 1611 fan "x" failure (where "x" is the fan location) error message is displayed at POST and the internal Health LED is red , then a primary fan has failed.
AMBER LED: An amber LED indicates that the minimum fan requirements have been met; however, requirements for redundant fan configuration have not been met. This means that all primary fan slots are populated with functioning fans, but at least one redundant fan has either failed or is missing.
  • If the 1611 fan "x" is not present (where "x" is the fan location) error message is displayed at POST and the internal Health LED is amber , then a redundant fan is missing.

  • If the 1611 fan "x" failure (where "x" is the fan location) error message is displayed at POST and the internal Health LED is amber , then a redundant fan has failed.
Note: In a redundant fan configuration, the error message fan system not fully redundant will also be displayed at POST if any redundant fan slot is left unpopulated or if a redundant fan has failed.

Air Conditioner for Benz 1998 E320

Check system for codes;

Displaying & Reading Trouble Codes (DTC Memory)
Air Conditioning (A/C)

Models 208 as of MY 1998

Diagnostic trouble Code Memory [15]

Note:
  • The A/C pushbutton control module (N22) has DTC memory and data output. The diagnostic trouble codes and data are displayed via the temperature display window. The stored DTC's will remain in memory even with the vehicle battery disconnected.
  • The DTC memory differentiates between current and intermittent faults.
  • Numerous DTC's can also be read with the Hand-Held Tester (HHT).

Preparations for DTC Readout

  1. Review 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 21, 22, 31, 31, 41
  2. Ignition: ON
  3. Temperature selector: left: "HI"; right: "LO"
  4. Ignition: OFF
  5. Ignition: ON
  6. Within 20 seconds press REST and EC simultaneously for more than 5 seconds.
  7. The LED in Recirculated Air flashes and the display shows "d1A".
  8. Press AUTO repeatedly until all DTC's are displayed. Record each DTC as it is displayed.
  9. Each fault (short circuit, open circuit) is assigned a DTC. Thus in the left display: "E1" appears, and the right display indicates the DTC. The current faults (refer to table) are displayed first, next, the intermittant failures (e.g. 45 °5) are displayed in the display window next to the FAN symbol. By pressing the right AUTO the next DTC is displayed.
  10. To erase: Can only be performed after all faults have been readout. Press left AUTO and right AUTO buttons simultaneously for more than 2 seconds and the display shows: left: "d" and right: "FF". To cancel erase: By pressing the left AUTO button, the current faults will appear again.
  11. Select a base temperature setting.
  12. Turn ignition OFF, to end test.
Note: Due to instrument cluster (IC) series interface, DTC's may be stored in IC memory, therefore readout and erase DTC's from IC memory.
