Question about Refrigerators

2 Answers

MY GE Profile Performance refidgerator works fine with the fridge door open but cuts off when I close the door. The inside light stays on all the time. I've already replaced the temp control for the freezer( which I thought controled the light part WR9X521) and the switch on the door. I did turn the timer and the light went out (when the door closes) but the power turned off. Is the defrost timer bad?

The freezer is working properly now since I replaced the temp control but the light stays on at all times in the cold side not freezer side. Like I said, I've already replaced switch in door.

I have a GE Profile performance fridge Model # TFX28PB. The milk side of fridge light stays on, even when door is shut. I've replaced the door switch and temp control switch (WR9X521)that operates the freezer side. When I adjusted the defrost timer switch the light went out but when I closed the door the whole fridge quit working. Do you think the timer is bad? The fridge works fine and doesn't seem to freeze over. I just cant get the light to turn off when I close the door.

I'm not an appliance repair person, but I did run across an article on the web about how to check the defrost time, and perhaps it will help:

Good luck and hope this helps.

Hi,

Refrigerator parts (along with the rest of the popular brands) depend on the proper function of the refrigerator's thermostat. If the thermostat goes bad, the entire operation of the rest of the refrigerator parts is affected. If you have frozen food even at the lowest temperature setting, you should test and replace the thermostat if it is defective. It is often found at the bottom of the refrigerator under the floor, but some models have it located in the back of the freezer compartment. You may need to remove the floor panel, or shelving and other obstructions to get at the thermostat. Please replace the thermostat.

GE profile fridge making loud humming noise

The door being open so long caused warm moist air to collect and freeze inside the unit.

Take everything out, unplug it and let it thaw out for an entire day. All the frost will thaw, and probably run water all over the place so put towels down.

When you plug it back it, it should work fine.

Gsc3pgxcfss warm fridge, freezer working fine, lights off in fridge

James, not sure I understand your message when you say both lights go off, but later say lights begin working. Do you mean they go off when you push the buttons at the door? And when you say no cold air comes from the freezer, is the freezer door closed? See if air begins flowing with freezer door open. If so it would indicate the return air path from the refrigerator to freezer is blocked.....damper staying closed or evaporator coil frozen up. The return air path has to be open to allow the freezer to keep sending out cold air to refrigerator when freezer door is closed. You might thoroughly defrost to make sure coil is not frozen.
If the door button for the refrigerator light is bad it can signal that the door is open all the time, so the freezer will never send cold air to the refrigerator. And that will be good news. Door switches are cheap. If you don't have a volt meter and know how to check switch, just remove the door switch from the refrigerator, leaving wires dangling, and close the door with a thermometer inside to see if it begins cooling (or just wait a while) I had that problem a year ago and was happy to find a bad door switch. More often it's a frozen coil, and that can be more expensive to fix. Sometimes you can discover a bad switch by pushing in the door button and the light stays on, but it doesn't sound like your situation.....sounds more like a frozen coil. If so, maybe all this extra information will help someone else.

Refrigerator light does not work on ge profile

Check for voltage at the light receptacle, and then try to find the wire from the door switch. There should be a schematic on the back of the fridge. The switch can wear out after ten years.

The problem is damper assembly. In the damper assembly there is a door. This door opens and close with the help of motor. The damper is located between freezer and fridge section. The cold air from freezer section enters to fridge section via this damper door.---------- What repairmen did was proper, but may be that door is not properly got open, it got closed again.Or there is ice got collected between the freezer and freezer section, so this is not letting the cool air to pass from freezer to fridge.----------- ---------- This damper assembly needs to be replaced.Actually this door functions correctly with motor. He open the damper door manually and thought, the cool air will enter the fridge section non stop, but that door is again got closed, by some how.--------- You will have to get the damper assembly part replaced, to get the air flow work properly.------- As the repair man has already ordered the part, otherwise you can get this parts from online sites like www.repairclinic.com or from sears parts direct site.-------- Getting the damper door assembly, replaced will help.Thanks.Helpmech.

GE profile freezer door pops open

If you close any refrig door " fast " , the other will pop open . These magnetic door gaskets , are designed for lighter holding power now , than they used to be , due to children getting caught inside . I would suggest lowering the front legs slightly , so that when you let go of the door , it will close slowly on its own .

humid air in the house. any time you open the fridge, house air is sucked in. when you close it, the fridge cools the air and moisture from the warm air condenses on any cold surface. also check to see if there is a gap in the seal.

Freezer door wont seal and stay closed

Your pushing air from the fridge part over to the freezer door when you clos it,the only thing i can suggest is make sure that the seal (which is magnetic) is clean and not falling apart, inspect it all around the door, and when closing the door i would close it gently.

Hope this helped.Let me know by rating me or
