Remove toshiba password from bios satellite 3000-x4

The Basic Input/Output System (BIOS) password is not set by default on Toshiba laptops. When set, the BIOS password must be entered every time you turn on your Toshiba or wake your system from Standby mode. If you forget the password, you cannot boot your system. Prevent having to enter a password or the results of forgetting the password by removing the BIOS password from your Toshiba laptop. Other types of passwords can be set, such as a Windows password, to prevent unauthorized access to your machine.

1. Turn off your Toshiba laptop.

2. Wait 30 seconds and turn your laptop back on.

3. Press "F2" repeatedly as soon your Toshiba laptop begins booting until the BIOS menu screen appears.

4. Enter your existing BIOS password and press "Enter."

5. Press "F2" again to enter the BIOS, if prompted.

6. Use your arrow keys to select the "Security" tab in the BIOS menu.

7. Use the arrow keys to select "Set User Password."

8. Press either "F5" or "F6," depending on your Toshiba laptop model, to open the Password section.

9. Enter the current password into the "Old Password" prompt and press "Enter."

10. Press "Enter" when the "New Password" prompt appears. Do not enter any text in this box.

11. Press "Enter" again to confirm the new password.

12. Press "F10" to save your changes and exit.

I hope you find it very helpful. Best regards.

Spoke with tech 2 days ago. talked me thru to resetting to factory default. yest i got black screen with blue box asking for password. attempt to enter a failure, know p-word but when try to enter nothing...

Well you have to get into bios setting with F2 when you see logo (Toshiba) hold the button down. When it comes up look at the bottom of your screen and directions are posted. You use the arrows to get into security and clear password. This is called a boot up virus. It worked a few times for me but there are some nasty ones out there and you may have to do a full restore. Don't forget to use the F keys when exiting the bios section. Look at the bottm for directions.

When i turn on my computer a black screen pops up saying enter current password._ Unable to use f2 or f12 What am I supposeed to do

Hi

You could try to start up in safe mode ( quite often f8 ) sign in as administrator and cancel the password

Also if you get into safe mode try a system restore back to when it was ok

Or hit delete key a few times when starting up hopefully this will take you into the bios because the f12 or f2 key may be disabled

Be very careful what you change in your bios because on a laptop its not very easy to change jumpers on bios battery so only enable the f2 or f12 then hit save and exit windows will then restart

But be very very carefull not to play around in the bios if you dont understand it you may end up with BIG BIG Problems
