Question about Malber TD700 Electric Dryer

1 Answer

Hi, I purchased three Malber WD2000 combo washer/dryer units last July. One quit working three months later and the guys at Malber USA would not send the correct part to fix it and they would not replace the unit. Absolute thiefs. Anyway, I have had that one sitting in my garage for a year unrepaired, and now I have another one that is broken. The lefthand black spring that holds up the tub has broken and the machine is not usable. Do you know where I can get parts?

SOURCE: Need service for Malber 1000 heating element..

Hi. Mike here. I repair Malbers in the Washington D.C. area. The most likely problem is not the heating element, but the hi-temp (or "brown") thermostat. They cost about $25 and are very simple to install. A "Torx 1.5" screwdriver (asterisk tip) removes two screws, in back, holding top on. Lift off top, and (from the front) see silver-foil-wrapped heating assy. At lower right will be a small philips screw holding a thin wire "hasp" which holds the thermostat in place. Remove screw and hasp (without dropping in machine!), unplug two "quiik-connect" lugs (orange & red wires) and pull out thermostat to the right. New one slips right back in. Replace wires, hasp, phillips screw and top -and you're done! This is 90% sure to fix. The heating element is only about 5% likely.
One last thing ... when re-inserting new thermostat, you'll have to "wrestle" with it a bit, as the tip needs to slip into a tiny (hard to "find") hole. Keep trying, and eventually it'll fit ALL the way in, so the hasp can hold it. To purchase part, call Joel (at Malber): 800-600-8913
Oh yeah, one MORE last thing... That red wire may be burnt a little, or completely burnt in two. Radio Shack and Home Depot sell "crimp-on" lugs (1/4") like these (female). Trim back the wire, crimp a new lug on the end, and push it back onto lower terminal on thermostat. If wire is too short, of course, add a few inches of 16 guage "stranded" (lamp cord). The same stores also sell tubular "crimp-on" wire-connectors (little blue tubes) to join the old and new wires. May God bless.

move the dial to the "off" position first; wait for beep; then move to the drying setting you want, and wait for another beep.

SOURCE: Malber Dryer won't start (sine-wave light flashing)

The dryer is easy: turn it on and turn the control to 0. It will beep. Then turn it to the desired program (20, 40, 60 minutes or a pre-programmed cycle), it will beep again and start. If there's a red light you have to empty the water tank at the front on the left. The washer is a normal washer. Just pick your program and press start (be patient as it takes a while to get cranking). Sometimes you have to really push the door closed very hard. Try and turn the control to 12 o'clock before setting it again.

How do you get the water to drain in the Malber WD100 washer/dryer combo?

Hi. I''m assuming you are referring to a WD1000.
To initiate the drain cycle: Rotate far right knob CLOCKWISE to Position 4. It may take 30-45 seconds to recognize the knob's new position, but then it will begin an 11 minute Slow Tumble/Pump Out cycle. During this cycle you'll see the internal drum slowly rotate CW for 60 seconds, pause, then rotate CCW for 5 secs - then repeat. All this time the pump will run and you'll hear water running down the drain. When you hear no more water you can rotate same knob to "straight up", and stop the machine. To turn power off, press the rightmost button.

Malber WD2000 door won't open

Malbers use a thermal (heat acting) latch to hold the door closed, so it stays latched for about 2 mins after being turned off. This is to give you time to think before you open the door and possibly spill water all over your feet. When the little bi-metallic piece cools off, it bends to one side (inside the latch assy) releasing the catch, and the door can be opened. Sometimes, the bi-metallic part bends OK, but the latch catches and won't release. It just needs a little vibration to free it up. A smack to the latch area (on door or face of Washer) will free the latch.
I tell my customers: Don't pull too ******* the white door handle. If you can't open it with your little finger (seriously) it's not ready to open!

What kind of soup i need to use

Hi Roy,

According to Graham Kerr (The Galloping Gourmet), when in doubt, go with Chicken Soup.

Whether an entree or a sick child, it might not help in the grand scheme of things, but it sure can't hurt either.

Best regards,

Wire Scraping sound and sparks inside rear dryer drum area.

Probably the rear bearing has failed and caused the drum to rub against the heating element. Hey, is this the guy that said he heard a noise last month? LOL

Two of the dials are dryer settings. There is only one washer dial, which basically controls the length of the wash and rinses, etc.
