First of all, you need to make sure your power adapter is providing enough power to both run the laptop & charge the battery. A very good way to do this is to compare your laptop voltage & ampere requirements (written on a sticker on the bottom of the laptop) with the voltage & ampere ratings of the power adapter. Voltages should be the same, or the power adapter's voltage about up to 0.5 volts more than the laptop's voltage rating. Amperage of the power adapter should be at least equal to or greater than the laptop's rating. It should never be less than the laptop's rating, or else the power adapter will be providing insufficient amperes to charge the battery. Of course, the power adapter's nominal amperage might be ok, but it degraded on usage. You can verify this by testing using a good or new power adapter.
If the battery did not charge using the new power adapter, take the battery off the laptop, & using a dry tooth brush, scrub in between the fins of the battery connector on the motherboard & on the battery it self, then put the battery back into the laptop & try again.
If this still did not resolve the problem, then the battery itself could be bad. Try it on another laptop, or try a good or new battery in your laptop.
If this did not work, there might be a possibility that the charging circuitry on the laptop's motherboard is defective & needs servicing. In order to do this, the laptop needs to be disassembled & the motherboard checked for defective/burned out components in the area near the DC jack. Any defective/burned out components found should be replaced, or you might need to replace the laptop's motherboard altogether.

Satellite M205 S4804 Problem

If the laptop battery is more than 3 - 4 years old then the battery could be worn out. Rechargeable batteries have a finite number of charge and discharge cycles and will lose their charge capacity over time, i.e. won't charge to 100% and gradually the charge reduces until the battery won't charge up at all. OR The battery shows a 100% charge but when the adapter is disconnected the battery drops off to zero capacity in a very short time. If the battery drops to an unacceptable charge level then the battery needs to be replaced. Rechargeable batteries will fail if stored in a discharged state for long periods.

Battery doesnt charge when plugged in

Laptop battery problems are quite common among owners of all brands of notebooks. On average, laptop batteries last one to three years. Their exact lifespan depends on several factors, such as how much you use the batteries, the number of charge-discharge cycles and the quality of the batteries. Lithium-ion batteries begin to lose the ability to hold a charge over time. Before you replace a laptop battery, consider that there may be other reasons that the laptop is not working properly. You may be able to recharge the battery instead.

1.Determine if the laptop battery is defective. While less than 1 percent of batteries are defective, the possibility is still there. If the battery is new and only charges some of the way, it may just require a BIOS update to charge fully. New batteries that refuse to charge at all may be defective. Purchase a new laptop battery to replace the defective one.

2. Test the laptop power adapter to see if it's faulty. Run the laptop directly from the laptop power adapter and without the battery. If the laptop does not work with the adapter plugged in, the adapter is dead and you will need to replace it. The laptop battery may refuse to charge if the adapter is faulty. Charge the battery with the laptop turned off.

3. Insert the laptop battery into another laptop to test it. If the laptop battery charges in another laptop, the laptop's motherboard may be bad. Replacing a motherboard in a computer can be very expensive. If the cost to fix the computer is not worth the cost of replacing the motherboard, consider purchasing a new laptop.

4. Reinstall the battery to ensure all connectors latch properly. The latch mechanism that holds the laptop battery should click into place. If the latch does not close, remove the battery and examine the compartment for signs of damage.

5. Troubleshoot the BIOS to determine if there is a hardware problem. Turn on the laptop and immediately enter BIOS setup by holding down the "Del" and "F1" or "F2" keys, depending on the make and model of the laptop. When the BIOS screen appears, see how long it takes for the battery to charge down. If the battery does not last as long as the BIOS setup, a hardware failure may be the problem.

I hope you find it very helpful. Best regards.

I have purchased a new Dr Who sonic Screwdriver wii controller, unfortunately the instructions were thrown out with the packaging and i am having trouble charging it. I have it currently connected via usb...

Hi, Here is the relevant text as found in the instructions:"Plug the mini USB end of the supplied USB charge cable to the charge socket on the Sonic Screwdriver Remote Controller (SSRC) and other end [ their error, not mine -KP ] of the charge cable to the Wii console. A red LED charge indicator is on when charging. When the battery is fully charged, the red LED automatically turns off. Charge time is between 2 to 3 hours and a fully charged battery has between 6 to 12 hours of playtime.""The Wii Console must be ON for the SSRC to be able to recharge its battery. It will not recharge when the Wii Console is OFF or in Stand-by Mode."" Charging : LED lights up"" Full charge : LED goes out"Hope this works for you. Keith Pyne

My Toshiba Laptop will not recharge the battery any more. I got a brand new battery from Toshiba direct and it is not charging.

If your laptop isn't charging the battery then a component on your motherboard has failed. Without extensive electronics repair training you are out of luck :(

There are only two solutions:

1) You could update the bios firmware and wish upon a star that it magically fixes your issue. Problem with this is the bios upgrade will REQUIRE the laptop to have a battery plugged in and slightly charged...you MIGHT be able to get around this if you still have some juice in your battery. It's worth a shot. You can get the latest firmware files from Toshiba's support site for your model.

2) You could swap out the motherboard by finding a match on ebay. Keep in mind of how much total repair would cost you. Laptops have dropped considerably in price.

Hope this info helps, if you get stuck or have any other specific questions, fire at will.

I have had my cameraplugged in for a month and whenever i turn it on it says "battery exhausted"

Rechargeable batteries don't last forever. Lithium batteries in particular can fail early if they are allowed to become totally discharged.

It may be worth buying a new battery to see if that fixes the problem.

Have you charged your battery successfully before by "having the camera plugged in"? Most cameras that have removeable batteries do not charge them in the camera, but by placing the battery in a separate charger.

Charging does not charge

If your Notebook computer battery is not charging, try the following:
  • Reset your computer's power manager. For information on how to do this with your specific model, search Apple Support.

    • Make sure your AC adapter is properly inserted into your laptop.

    • Connect your computer to its AC adapter, shut it down, and then let it charge overnight. If it does not charge, it's likely you have a hardware fault in your computer, battery, or adapter, and you should have it repaired.

    • Test your AC outlet. See if your battery will charge if you plug it into a different outlet, or see if another electrical device will work in your original outlet.

    • Test your AC adapter. Try connecting a different AC adapter to your computer and see if it recharges.

    • If it's removable, test your battery. Try using a different battery with your computer and see if it will recharge.

    • In some of the early PowerBooks, the battery will not charge unless the computer is turned on. If you have an old PowerBook and your battery isn't charging while it's turned off, power it on, put it to sleep, and then see if it recharges.
If you go through all of these steps and your battery still won't charge, or you can't narrow down the source of the problem, you will probably need to have your computer repaired. However, it may be worth your time to consult Apple Support first. It contains entries on problems with specific computer models and versions of the operating system, including battery recharge issues.

My battery charges but when i let it charge for a whie it says battery 0%. and a red light on left hand corner turns on

THe battery had probably been use to it's limit. With laptop batteries they only have a limited life span. A certain numbe rof charges. The best thing to do is when you have the laptop plugged into the wall power source, remove the battery. As with all rechargable batteries, it is not recommended to recharge them when they are half drained. Recharging them all the time kills the lifespan. Go on ebay and purchase another battrery. You can find one for under $30.

There is only two possibility why the battery didn't charge.
1) cradle ( socket at camera side ) faulty.
2) the power adaptor faulty ( no dc voltage, can use volt meter to confirm ).

it worth repairing .Thks
