Question about Canon EOS-AE-1 35mm SLR Camera

1 Answer

AE-1 self timmer

My AE1 seems to be stuck on self-timer no matter what the settings are (A,L,S,Program, B, etc.)
I am thinking of changing the battery to see if that helps.
Could there be any other cause that I can fix?

Thanks

I have the same problem, but how do you fix it? Do I have to take it into a repair shop, or can I just fix it myself?

The battery is not the problem. It is more likely the the internal switch has failed, (always stuck on self timer). The switch is a ring around the release button for the shutter. The small black tab covers the red LED in normal release mode, the self timer is on when the tab is facing forward.

Meter on ae1 not working when aperture setting adjusted

On that camera the needle is not supposed to move when the f-stop ring is turned. It should stay on whatever number it is on and you should set the ring manually to whatever the needle points to.

That camera was really not made to be easy to use in the manual mode. I guess Canon thought everyone would just use it in Auto.

Shuuer stuck down, lever wont advance

The Canon AE-1 has an electronic triped shutter and cocking system and requiires a battery to function. So yes the battery is required. Goog luck!
