Question about Brother HL 5170DN Laser Printer
This is what's called a Service Call, meaning the machine has experienced a problem that it doesn't think an end-user can support.
According to the manual:
"Push the Go switch and the Job Cancel switch at the same time during the service call and hold them. And then push the 2 key additionally to show the service call type by LED combination."
Which I'm assuming means press and hold the two buttons, then press them both again.
The combination of the LEDs tells you where the problem is:
RED Status +:
Toner LED = Fuser (Fixing Unit)
Drum LED = Laser
Paper LED = Main Motor
YELLOW Status +:
Toner LED = Main PCB
Drum LED = Engine PCB
Paper LED = DIMM
All of which are expensive parts and also expensive repair.
