Question about Office Equipment & Supplies

1 Answer

I have a Savin9927dp copier, everytime I run paper through the ADF i get a paper jam error. I dosen't actually jam and it doesn't show the error untill all pages have passed through. I assume it is a sensor, I can see 2 an input sensor and what looks like an exit sensor. Does that sound right and if so do you have the part number for the sensor.

I inspected it fairly well there is nothing blocking the paper path or the sensors themselves. If you open and close the ADF cover it resets and we are able to use it again. What else do you suggest?

Hi,

It might not be a sensor problem, you would have to take it apart and inspect it carefully to find the actual fault, if there was noting wrong then it might be a senson and I would only then go and replace the sensor.

Some Parts for the machine available at http://www.precisionroller.com/savin-992...

Sorry to give you an answer that costs you - but here is the service manual and parts list of the machine, inside you will find the part number of the part etc and how to take apart the ADF. taking it apart and cleaning it, then reassembling the unit, that should solve the problem. But if a sensor is bad it will probably come back with same issue, then I would replace the sensors if they are available. Not sure where to get parts for this machine, hopefully service manual has part reseller contact details.

The site asks 9.99 for the manual, I don't have the manual, ofcourse I would give you a copy if I had it myself.

ADF jam

Most probably the rollers are sticky. Try cleaning the rollers with fibre cloth soaked & squeezed dry. Use a blower to clear any dust in between the rollers. Finally run the maintenance program provided. It should solve your problem. If its still under warranty, I strongly suggest you send it in for servicing

I have a message on screen sayng " ADF Jam" there is no paper jamming the system. I cannot make this message go away, and so i cnnot use any other function of the printer. How might I clear...

Hi travlynn2,

  1. The ADF
unit is the grey paper tray located on the top of the scanner unit.
Check the following points if it does not feed paper, or you receive an "ADF jam" error message:

  2. Check the position of the ADF document guide:

    1. Lift up the ADF unit. Locate the document guide on the underside, as shown here:

    2. The document guide should be tucked in behind the grey plastic casing, but a paper jam can push it out of position. Figure 8 below shows the correct (1) and incorrect (2) positions:

    3. If your document guide looks like example (2)
on the right, lift it out on the right-hand side. Tuck it in behind the
grey section, so that it matches the example on the left (1).

    1. Close the scanner unit.

    2. If the printer is displaying "ADF Jam, press start to continue", press the B/W Start button to clear the error:

    3. Test the printer by scanning or faxing via the ADF unit.

  3. Check the ADF edge guides:

    1. The adjustable paper tray edge guides must be set to the correct paper size for the paper you are loading. Otherwise, the paper may skew, misfeed and/or jam.

    2. Slide the edge guides to enclose the loaded
paper (in the direction of the yellow arrows below), without causing it
to bunch or crease. The paper should be aligned with the relevant paper size marker:

Figure 9. The ADF edge guides.

  4. Check the ADF unit feed rollers:

    1. Open the cover of the ADF by pulling up the grey lip, as shown below:

    2. Check thoroughly for fragments of paper and foreign objects. Take care not to tear any jammed paper when you remove it.

    3. Use the green gear (circled in yellow below) to turn the paper feed rollers and feed through jammed paper:

    4. Paper dust or foreign material on the rollers may cause paper to misfeed. Clean these parts with a damp, well-wrung cloth:

      1. The upper paper pickup rollers (circled in red, above top left). You can turn these by hand.

      2. The lower paper pickup rollers. These will rotate as you turn the green gear (circled in yellow above). See the inset for a close-up of the lower rollers.

    5. When complete, close all the covers.

    6. If the printer is displaying "ADF Jam, press start to continue", press the B/W Start button to clear the error:

    7. Test the printer by scanning or faxing via the ADF unit.

  5. Check that the ADF unit sensors are not obstructed.

    1. Open the cover of the ADF unit.

    2. Look at Figure 12 below. Check the position of the black plastic parts (the actuators) circled in red.

    3. If the black plastic actuators do not stick out from the ADF cover, they may have been pushed out of position by a paper misfeed and be obscuring the ADF sensors. Tap the back of the ADF unit firmly to release the actuators.

    4. When complete, close all the covers. Check and test the printer as explained in Step 6.d.vi.
Hope this helps.

Thank you for using FixYa.

My Artisan 810 ADF gets jam error. There is no paper there. The motor just whirls and then gives ADF jam error. My 810 is near new, less than 300 sheets printed, less than 100 scanned using...

Just fixed my problem today. It was the ADF assembly motor. The spur gear had cracked open where it can no longer grip tightly to the center rod when the motor spins. I bought a new motor assembly from CompassMicro for the total amount of $23 and my printer is back in running order like normal again. Beats taking it to a repair center and get ripped!

ADF paper jam, when there is none

If you are receiving an Error Code 103 or a Paper Jam error, but there are no pages in the ADF (Automatic Document Feeder), follow the steps below:
  1. Close the scanning application (such as PaperPort)
  2. Turn off the scanner and the computer
  3. If you have a combination ADF with a Flatbed scanner, unplug the ADF cable from the base of the scanner
  4. Plug the ADF cable back in
  5. Turn on the scanner power
  6. Turn on the computer
  7. Try scanning again
For a Paper Jam or Error Code 103, make sure that the ADF cable in the rear is connected to the scanner base. Check the flatbed to make sure that it is clear. A page incorrectly placed on the flatbed may interfere with a page feeding through the ADF.

If your scanner stops scanning due to a paper jam in the Automatic Document Feeder (ADF), a warning dialog box appears after a few moments.

To clear a paper jam:
  1. Open the Automatic Document Feeder cover.
  2. Remove the jammed paper and close the cover.
If you are receiving a paper jam error, or if the scanner is running continuously, check to make sure the paper sensor arm is not stuck down.
  1. Open the Automatic Document Feeder cover.
  2. Look for the small black plastic arm
  3. When you press on this arm, it should move freely up and down
  4. If the arm is stuck down, please contact Technical Support for troubleshooting options
  5. Close the ADF cover.
