Continous sparking of gas cooktop - Kitchen Ranges

I have a Dacor SGM365S gas cooktop. The ignitors have always been flakey on this 5 year old unit.  But now, turning on any one of the 5 burners causes ALL of the ignitors to spark continuously.  This goes on for 3-4 minutes when they will stop, then restart after a few seconds.  Spark for another 30 seconds then finally stop.  After this episode I can turn 4 of the burners off but only one burner will cause 5 sparking burners if I turn it on.  The other 4 react normally when cycled on and off. I called Dacor customer service and was told to clean the ignitors with rubbing alcohol or Windex and a  Q-Tip. I did this. No help. Another post said to use a fine wire brush. I did this. No help.  Another said to unplug the unit and let it sit overnight. I did this. No help. I fix things around the house constantly and wouldn't be a bit afraid to remove the unit and take it apart to repair/replace parts. Any help or direction would be greatly appreciated.

I was sitting in my kitchen minding my own business, and all the burners started sparking WHILE TURNED OFF! I had to turn off the circuit breaker to make it stop. Anyone know what causes this and how to fix it?

Under each gas control is a switch that will turn on the spark module when rotated to the light position. One or more of these switches has failed. Some models these switches are individually replaceable, others the switch is an assembly of all four.

I had this problem when my Westinghouse Vistuoso cooktop was 4 years old and it then cost me $110 for parts, service call and labour. Nearly 2 years later the problem has just reoccurred. Methinks manual lighting will now be the way to go. As a pensioner I can't afford the luxury of such an expense every 2 years!

The igniter spark for all gas rings remains on permanently without pressing down the gas flow knobs. I can see nothing prompted this - I just came into the kitchen one morning to hear the igniter clicking...

This could be a problem with your spark module. its an electronic box either behind or under the cooktop. it sends the spark to the spark tip, which then ignites he gas. So in my opinion i would say it is your spark module.

Spark igniter discharging when turned off

It sounds like somebody clean up the stove and the electric sending unid is wet, try this: the knob that correspond to the ingniter that it's clicking nonestop, take the knob out and you will see the sending unit, pull it out unplug it and dry it out and then try it again, it should work properly after it's dry.
