Question about Digital Video Systems Plenio VXA-3000 GPS Receiver

1 Answer

Plenio VXA-3000 Navigation Unit, powers on but screen stays off.

Ive had my VXA-3000 a grand total of 3 days now, and ive started having an issue where, i turn the unit on, the blue light flashes.. but the screen stays OFF.. I can tell the unit is booting fully, and can even hear the beeps when I press the screen..

if I switch it on and off over and over and over again eventually it will come on, sometimes after 3 flips(on/off) sometimes after more than 30...

I thought maybe it was a voltage issue, so I connected it to 12V 1A DC wall plug, and it does the exact same thing.

once the screen come up the first time, it will come up every time if I turn it off and on again, but after setting half an hour or so.. it doesent want to come back on.

when the screen DOES come on, the unit works perfect.

any ideas??

I fixed it, it was a minor but not issue, if you are having a similar issue, search the web, post questions on sites like this, then when you dont get any answers, spend about 6 hours figuring it out, thats how I did it.

Unit powers on, however, it does not locate a satellite?? Any Idea's I was thinking it might be a loose antenna cable but don't want to take it apart yet.

SOURCE: how re install my 7

Troubleshooting:
1) Before using the device, please visit our customer support website to download and install the latest relevant software updates for your device.
2) Touchscreen does not work
If the touch screen becomes uncalibrated for some reason, use the remote controller to
directly access the touch screen calibration.

  • Power up the device with the SD card removed to boot into the main menu screen.
  • Press the [F2] ? [F3] ? [F2] ? [Full Screen] button sequentially on your remote to access the touch screen calibration.
  • Press and hold the 5 cross marks using the test jack or your fingertip, according to the instructions displayed on the screen.
  • Press the screen once to save and close the touch screen calibration setting.
3) The LED turns on or flashes red during initial boot up :
When the temperature inside the car is too high or too low, the red LED flashes. In this case,
follow the steps below:
  • Turn the product power off and ventilate the car to return to normal ambient temperature.
  • Turn the power on after a little while and observe the LED color.
  • If the red LED still flashes under normal temperature, contact customer service.

1) Download the latest OS upgrade file (NK.bin file) from our customer support website and save
to the Upgrade folder in the root directory of your SD card.
a) You need to access the SD card via your PC for this upgrade. If your PC does not have a SD
card reader, you can purchase a USB SD card reader from any electronics/computer
supplies store.
b) If the root directory of your SD card does not have an Upgrade folder, please create a new
folder and name it Upgrade before saving the OS upgrade file into it.
2) Insert the SD Card into the device. When the SD Card memory icon becomes highlighted in
blue, select OS upgrade.
3) Press the [OK] button to begin the OS upgrade process.
4) Once the upgrade is complete, please reboot the unit and verify the new OS version number
on the lower right of the Settings display.
5) Please access the SD card again via your PC and delete the OS upgrade file from the
Upgrade folder to free up the SD card memory.

Here is your manual: http://static.tigerdirect.com/pdf/DVSSynchrome_VXA-3000_UserManual.pdf

The customer service link in the Manual is no longer a valid site. Here is the new site: http://www.dvs.co.kr/project/english/product/plenio.php

I recommend purchasing a new GPS unit, such as a Magellan, TomTom, etc. if you still cannot get your GPS working.

How do i get the maps for a plenio vxa 3000

DVS seems to have discontinued the Plenio line of GPS units. If you check around, you can read up on how other people have purchased 3rd party map software and installed on their VXA units. I have OCN installed on my VXA-3000 and it works good (better than the Smart2Go maps that came with the unit in fact).
