This link has the instructions on how to fix this problem and other similar problems. You have nothing to lose, so I recommend that you try it.

This works with the two other colors, blue and green also. Not all models of Sony Projection TVs have the red, green, and blue pots in the same order as the picture that is listed on this link, so you may want to google search for your model's service manual. The service manual can also help you be able to remove the cover for your particular model of TV. I was able to find the service manual for my model, and sure enough, the order of the pots are reversed on mine, so I would have been adjusting the wrong color. Read all of the comments on this link too, because you can find other helpful tips and may even find someone with the same model of TV as you.

I hope this helps you!
Fare well. :)

P.S. You can also clean the mirrors and dry dust while you're in there which can help with blurriness and focus. You may have to adjust all three colors to get the picture back.

I was just given this t.v because friends couldn't figure out what is wrong with itl. The colors don't line up right, looks kinda blurry depending on the lighting of the program being watched. How do i fix...

According to the manual:
1) go to the "TV Main Menu"
2) Select "Screen"
3) Select Adjust Projection TV (obviously only if a projection TV).
This then allows you to adjust the TV's 3-colors. Selecting GREEN CENTERING brings up a control panel that lets you center the green projection tube on the screen. Selecting RED CONVERGENCE or BLUE CONVERGENCE lets you align the Red & Blue projector tubes. Centre the green projector tube 1st. Then adjust the red & blue until the test pattern on the TV screen appers white.
Good Luck!

TV picture is red.

Normal color picture is composed with 3 colors R-G-B (Red-Green-Blue). Picture turns Red means: Missing Green and Blue colors (many reasons: bad contacts, projector tubes dead, and other...). Try to give some "tabs" to diagnose ... I don't know what is the type of your Projection TV, how long you owned it, to have more idea.

Screen is all Shades of Red....

You need to remove the front tv panel, search for the screws right behind the screen and speaker area on the sides of tv. Should be four of them, carefully remove the lower have/quarter and you will find a control box, 6 knobs. Try adjusting them to clear the problem, each color has its own knob, be sure to mark their original position befor adjusting. When you find the red adjustment knob, you should be able to turn it down enough so that it doesnt overpower the rest of the colors. Good luck.
