Just look at the tray that you lay your document in to be faxed. It will have an impression in the tray that looks like a sheet of paper. This symbol will either show something that looks like lines of text on the page and if so then you put the page in face up. If it appears to be a blank sheet with one corner folded over then it is face down. I am telling you this in case you need to know at some point in the future you will always have that indicator to tell you. You can also use the machine to make a copy and put the document in both ways and what ever way results in a copy and not a blank page will tell you which way is right.

I am trying to send a fax on my parents fax machine but do not know which way to insert the paper. It is a brother MFC-7860DW

  • if you are going to fax from the glass or scanner bed you should put your document face down on the glass
  • if you are going to fax from the feeder (on the top of the machine) then you should load your document face up in the feeder
How to send a fax?
  • when you want to send a fax ,press the FAX key to illuminate it in blue
  • put the document either in the feeder or on the glass
  • enter the fax number using the dial pad
  • press START

When faxing should the paper be face up or face down?

According to the manual, the documents should be placed face down in the auto document feeder.
Here's a link to the manual that I spoke about:

Hope this helps!

Witch way does the paper go up or down when you fax

Hello,

Either way. The tray on the top is the conventional paper feeder for fax (this is where you manually fax single paper) and the tray on the bottom is your "Automatic Document Feeder" in which can hold 20 page unattended fax or copy.

hope this helps. Don't forget to rate.

For faxing from the MFC-290C is it face up or face down?

Try making a copy of something, if it comes out blank, try the other way. The copy and fax functions work the same.

Hope this helps

Faxing

if using the feeder probably face up as it will likely pull the document in and invert it to lay face down on the scanning glass.

if you lift up the feeder (like lifting the top of a copy machine), then it would be face down on the glass.

there should be an image on the feeder illustrating how the document should be placed - if it looks like a page with lines on it with a bent corner then it is face up.

I never Used A Fax Machine. I was Given A ''Brother IntelliFaxMC''

if you look at the area where you put your paper to seend ( that is the document feeder ) there should be a diagram of a pice of paper with a corner turned over, if lines are on the top part put paper in dac feeder face up. if lines are on the little corner pice put the paper face down,
if not sher put one pice of paper with lettering in doc feeder press copie of it comes out you got it right. hope this helps

Brother 575 fax

The papers you are sending go into the front feeder with the copy facing the back. Then just punch in the fax # and press start.
