Question about Computers & Internet

1 Answer

Hello: My 5-week-old Acer Aspire M1610 desktop, running on Windows Vista factory installed, has occasional problems starting. Every so often, at startup, it stops at the loading windows line at the bottom of the screen. I then have to unplug to switch off. When it restarts it reads 'recommended windows repair', which I allow. When it finishes running through that it either tells me it has found nothing, switches itself off and then I manually restart (everything then OK)or, as this morning, runs windows repair and then restores me without a problem. Comet, from whom I bought it, looked at it and tried it over night and say it's OK. But clearly there is an intermittent fault. Any ideas please?

Return it and ask for a replacement, if they refuse ask for your money back and take your business else where. vista is smart software it test the hardware that is installed while loading up, if there is a fault it will act up or in some cause not bootup at all.
the problem lies with the entire setup before you receive the pc.
let me know if this helps

Restore to factory default

Unlike other laptops, Acer notebook/laptops integrate a computer management utility called 'Acer eRecovery Management' to create backup of hard drive data, create restore point, reinstall applications & drivers, and reset Acer Aspire 4315 to factory setting.

Step 1: Before starting your Acer Aspire 4315 laptop, ensure that there is no external storage device attached to it. Now start your laptop.

Step 2: Press 'Alt + F10' when the laptop starts booting, and wait for a moment while Windows loads the reset files.

Step 3: When 'Acer eRecovery Management' window appears, select 'Restore System from factory default' and click 'Next' to continue.

Step 4: Again click 'Next' to reset your Acer laptop. This process will erase all data from your hard disk and reset your Acer one to original factory settings.

Step 5: Click 'OK' in the notification window to begin the the resetting operation. Now wait while your Acer Aspire 4315 is reset to factory settings.

Tips: You can also create a backup copy of your notebook data before factory reset. Simply click 'Backup' in 'Acer eRecovery Management' window.

You need to have a windows vista dvd or a recovery/restore cd from Acer. CD-less installation will only work if your computer has a restore image which should be installed in the factory. I dont think acer dekstops have that though.

Just call Acer and ask for a vista dvd or see if you know someone who owns a computer which came with the same version of vista and borrow their dvd.

Problem with sound on acer aspire m1610

Well if your sound card went out then your kind of out of luck, but if you need to get the sound card to work again, like to install it then you need to go to the acer website and download the driver for it.
