Hello,

Welcome to FixYa.

Based on your description..."Washer is filling up with water when not in use
", You likely have a faulty inlet water valve.

Here`s an easy way to check...

1) First drain the standing water which presently exists, if any.

2) Unplug the washer from the wall/power outlet and allow a period of time to pass, 12 hrs or so...while constantly monitoring the situation though.
If the unit has standing water in it after wards you need a valve.

If it doesn't have water in it after-wards then the valve is being energized when it is plugged in even when it should not...that indicates a faulty control unfortunately, but not very likely.

The valve # is 8182862 and varies in pricing around $40 - $75.

It should be available at most brick and mortar appliance part locations or if you prefer on-line shopping try "searspartsdirect.com" "repairclinic.com" or "appliancepartspros.com" to name a few.

To swap out the valve simply follow these steps...

**Unplug the unit from the wall before attempting any repairs suggested here...safety first**

1) turn off the water and unfasten the hot & cold fill hoses going to the washer.

2) remove the three screws along the back of the top panel and then slide the top panel back slightly and pull up. The panel should lift away.

3) in the left rear corner ( when observing from the front of the washer )you should now see the valve.

4) remove the wires, carefully the harness has little release tabs which must be bent back slightly to pull the wire & harness off.

5) remove the hose to the dispenser assembly, a pair of pliers or vise-grips works well here.

6) remove the screw on the outside back wall of the washer and pull the valve out, voila !

Reverse order to put the new one in "voila", and good job. You potentially saved yourself $200 or more for parts and labour.

Hope this answers your question but more importantly solves your problem.

Good luck.

I think this might be the answer. The washer is filling up with water even when it is draining
and yes if I unplug it , it will still just send water into the washer like nothing is telling
it to stop filling I am on a well system I can't have the water running constant
so I have been going to shut off the water when I beleive it has enough then turnning
it back on when it beeps HF (half full) this has been a pain.

Washer will not fill

Good Afternoon Friend,

I understand you are having trouble with your Electrolux washer not filling with water. Here are a couple of suggestions you can try.

1)Check to make sure that the water supply is adequate in the area your washer is. Check another faucet in your home. Wait until the water supply and pressure increase.

2)Make sure that both the hot and cold faucets are completely open.

3)Check to make sure that the hot and cold water inlet hoses are not kinked.

4)Lastly, make sure the water pressure is at least 30 psi. Try to avoid using water elsewhere in your home while your washer is filling.

I ask that you please follow up with a comment on the post, at your convenience, to advise if further troubleshooting is needed or if your washer status has changed successfully.

    -Best Regards-

Water leaks (drips ) into tub after cycle/spin is complete

You have a bad pressure switch or the small hose connecting to the pressure switch may be bad

If the washer leaks water when is filling only, check the following: 1.Fill hoses
2.The water mixing valve

3.Filling injector ( If your washer uses one )
4.Filling spout

If the washing machine leaks during the wash cycle, check the following:
1.The pump
2.The tub stem & seal
3.Tub to pump hose
4.The drain hose
5.Tub (rusted holes)
6.The drum support bolts

If the washing machine leaks during the spin cycle, check the following:
1.The drain hose
2.The tub cover seal
3.The pump
4.The pump hoses

5.The stem & seal

Drum fill with water

If your machine outlet pipe is connected to the sink trap (many are these days) it could simply be that water from the sink is draining into the washer if it is connected like this ensure that where the outlet pipe leaves the the trap it goes up and does not run level or down if the water in the is dirty this is the problem failing this water vavles are passing water when the machine is off

My washer sometimes ends up with a couple inches of water in the tub a day after last used. Also, at times water leaks on the floor. Neither of these things happen consistently.

It is likely that the fill valve located inside the rear panel is leaking, especially if you leave the supply lines turned on all the time. One annoying fix is to turn off the water supply after each laundry session but than you have to remember to turn the water on again next time

Standing water in washing machine

The inlet water valve is not shutting off completely. Replace the valve, which is the part the inlet hoses screw onto.

Dishwasher not filling with water

My GE Nautilus, Serial # GSD363F00W, Model # LA774908 is about 3 or 4 years old. I use it at least once a day. It has been working fine. Today I turned it on, red light came on, and I heard activity of some sort inside machine but no water came. Turned washer off, looked inside, no water. Turned machine back on, again heard some sort of activity but again no water came. Tried twisting the dial through the washing cycles, detergent cup dispensed detergent and dry heat come on, but no water.

6 months old. Now no water will fill drum! Works as normal but no water!

Hurlewan Your washer is still under manufacturer's warranty which is one full year. If it has Kenmore's name on it you do not need proof of purchase. The only thing you need is your mother-in-law's home phone number at time of purchase because Sears keeps all their records based on phone numbers. Good luck, Gendos post back....
