My laptop is restarting what's a problem

There's a setting in Windows XP that tells your computer to restart when a system error occurs. If you turn off that option, you may solve your automatic reboot problem.
Click Start, then open Control Panel
Click Performance and Maintenance
Click System
Click on the Advanced Tab
Click Settings in the Startup and Recovery section
Uncheck Automatically Restart in the System failure section

Press Esc to cancel loading SPTD.sys

You should be able to boot XP from an install CD and perform a repair install (not a complete install) which will not affect your existing files.

You'll need to enter your BIOS and ensure that your PC is set to boot from CD, then restart your PC with the disc in the disc drive. After a period of loading, it will give the option to repair install on the installation screen. Choose that option, then follow the onscreen prompts and allow the install to finish before rebooting (rebooting may be automatic, depending on your version). After repair install, ensure that all updates are current.
