Is the cooling fan for the compressor working? There is a coil of the condenser line that runs around the freezer side. This will get hot but the cold freezer side keeps it form not getting too hot. It could get very warm if the freezer is not cold yet.
that middle peice should be hot to the touch
this is the mullion heater or yoda loop in the old days
this is what controls moisture from entering the unit
when you open the dooor
mine has been running for 7 years no worries
Hi, Have you checked to see if there is a frost build up in the freezer? How are the temperatures in the fresh food side or the freezer side? Check and make sure the evaporator motor is running in the freezer. Please let me know if you find any of these issues. When that area is hot, usually there is more going on and the temps are not right. Let me know so I can assist you further.
The frame between the doors has a refrigerant line running through it to prevent moisture build up between doors (should be room temp. or slightly warm, not hot). If that area between the doors is hot to the touch, you have two things to check: 1 - are the condenser coils under unit or in the back clean? 2 - is the condenser fan running in the back that is near the compressor running?
The problem you describe is caused by the hot gas pipe that runs around the cabinet, this is normal for it too get warm, the only reason it would be very hot is that for some reason the gases are not being cooled, probable cause is that the condenser is blocked with dust or fluff, depending on axact version some are located behind the plastic trim that runs below the doors and others are in the back behind the lower rear panel.
