Hi there,
Since it's a pretty long explanation to show to open a dyson DC08 I have made a video instead. I use the video to show how to change a motor so if you only need to change the switch you will only need to watch half of it. If you like the video please take a moment to give me a thumbs up on youtube or better still leave a comment here on fix ya. If you need parts I would recommend visiting Nelson Vacuums or VacuumSpot.

My neato keep asking "put in my dirty bag"

Neato's dustbin, when inserted into the recess, makes contact with a switch that indicates that the dustbin is in place. First, ensure that when you insert the dustbin, you press down FIRMLY to make sure it's all the way in. You should hear it "click" into position.

If you hear the click, but it still isn't working without errors, it may be that the dustbin is not pressing down on the switch with sufficient force. The easiest fix for this problem is to tape a small piece of paper to the switch (to add some "height") so the switch will make better contact with the dustbin.

Finally, if neither of these methods works, it may signal a faulty switch in the dustbin receptacle. If the switch is faulty, you'll need to have the Neato serviced.

Why does my vac keep shutting down

switch the vaccum on & try wiggling the cord at the plug & see if it stops when you tighten the cord and wriggle it at the plug. This will indicate faulty lead if it shuts dwn when you do this . I suspect problem could be in your pwr lead needs replacing as lead faulty.
to fix replace lead.

My Kirby G3 diamond series won't turn on

Hi There, The most common problem by far is that the cord is faulty. This is a pretty easy repair to do at home. If your machine was randomly cutting out before it stopped altogether then the cord is likely the culprit. If however it stopped all of a sudden with no warning then it is possibly a switch or motor issue which is a much harder repair to achieve for a novice.
The kirby cords are not terribly expensive (and I have linked a how to video showing how its done) so if you need a new one I would say DIY is the go, otherwise spend the $25 get a pro to take a look.

S4210 will not start. Sounds like the switch. Could it be something in the cord reel? What is the circuit path here, and is there a fix other than repacing the reel and/or the switch?

It could be the switch or the cord, amongst other things. To check the switch and cord, get to the back of the switch (with the unit unplugged of course) and do continuity tests from the plug to the switch incoming side on both the live and the neutral wires. If you do not have continuity on either one of the wires the cord is faulty. The break will probably be where the cord flexes the most. If you have continuity on the wires, try the switch in the on and off position and see that you have continuity when switched on. If the cord and the switch are in order, the problem is obviously within the vacuum cleaner.

The hand dryers don't stay on while our hands are under it. They still blow hot air but only intermitantly,

There is a proximity switch under the place from where the hand is to be placed and it will detect the presence by a feedback. If there is no sensing then it is possible that the sensor is faulty or the circuit for processing this signal is faulty.
Can be taken out and checked from the sensor as a signal should switch on and your probe can make the relay to switch. trace it down from the opamp to the timer to the relay driver.
Hope my advice helps .Please comment. Good day

I push the button to turn it on and it doesnt stay on. if i hold it down i can vacumm but as soon as i let go it stops. how do i fix it.

Most likely the ratchet mechanism on the switch is faulty.

Switches are available if you search oneBay2_bing.giffor a few pounds, and if you've reasonable DIY skills and tools, it's fairly easy to do.

Have a look athttp://www.dysonmedic.com/DC07%20Folder/DC07%20Motor%20change.htmlwhich has some great info.

Unit will not turn on when the cord in plugged in and on/off switch is set to depressed (on) position.

This could be a faulty cable or switch, but could also be a faulty motor.
The motor also has a built in over-current protection device which normally automatically resets itself, but if the motor has a serious fault or the over-current device itself is faulty then this could be the cause of the lack of continuity.
Both the switch and motor are available quite cheaply on eBay2_bing.gif, but fitting new ones requires good DIY skills (especially the motor), and some unusual tools (Torx drivers).
Have a look at www.dysonmedic.com which has some great info on repairing your machine, but if you dont feel you can repair it yourself, time to call a vacuum repairer or the Dyson helpline

My dyson dc 16 hand held vacume stops & starts while in use, each time you pull the trigger it will start again but then stops after a short while untill i pull the trigger again.

Cutting out can be due to a few things , motor overheating due to dirty filter, Faulty mains cable or plug..sealed type also..Faulty Switch/trigger.May need to seek pro help to fix.
