    Hello,

By "Poor" do you mean the result is poor because the color is way off?

Hello,

Thank you for posting a photo showing the problem you are having.

If you take your camera into a dimly lit room and press the shutter button half way down you should see a light emit from the camera and lightup the surface area in front of you. Your lens ring will move right and left to set the focus. If you see no light emitted or your lens ring does not move or sounds unusual, you are having an AutoFocus issue. If you turn AutoFocus off and focus manually and the picture comes out just as bad if may be the digital stabilizer or is definetly the chip used to capture the image in the camera that is bad.

When you have AutoFocus on and Digital Stabilization on and Auto WhiteBalance on, which I'm sure you do, then according to Canon your camera's issue cannot be resolved without repair service.

To request repair service from the company via an online form go to this page.

If you want to find a repair location and feel you are probably near one, go to this location online.

If you would rather talk this over with someone over the phone call Canon's technical support team at 1-800-OK-CANON

If you have purchased your camera within the last 30 days, and have a receipt, go to the location you purchased this camera from and request a replacement.

Sorry we can't be of further assistance than this. I hope you find this information Helpful or has fixed your dilemma and has put you on your way to getting it repaired or replaced.

Regards,
Worldvet

Hello, You have to check for certain things.
1. First reset the camera settings by going to reset in settings. 2.While taking snap make sure the light is adequate by turning on the flash. 3. Keep the camera stable while clicking and click on two step....i.e first gently so that lens can auto focus then all the way to click.

Picture quality always poor. appears to be low megapixel

Check your camera settings!
1. Image size setting (e.g. 1Mpix to 14 Mpix), see user manual page 30.
2. Image compression, see user manual page 30. Set to FINE for best quality.
3. Try also other camera focus settings, like SPOT. See user manual page 31.

Video quality suddenly reduced

That means you have mistakenly changed it from Standared Mode  to Compact Mode ..
  1. Standared Mode: Hi Quality with the (Video Camera Symbol)
  2. Compact Mode: Low Quality with the (Vidoe Camera + Envelope Letter Symbol)
The Solution: Rotate the Wheel to toggle between these 2 Modes

Poor Resolution

e sure the quality setting is the highest - 7 megapixels. Otherwise, why buy a 7MP if you shoot at 3MP. The Canon 750 seems to have excellent picture quality where the Olympus has soft focusing (reviews at C-net).

Help :)

Hey TiffanyJane,
There is no way to change the dpi on a digital camera. What you need to do is set the camera to its highest resolution which is 3264x2448 pixels, and this is referred to as large in your camera. Large resolution should provide prints of high quality up to 11.7x16.5 inches, and should also be able to print to 300dpi. Instructions on how to set your camera to this setting are on page 69 of your camera manual. If you no longer have your manual I have provided a link below to a PDF download of it. I hope this helps!

QuickCam Express, blurry, snowy picture...sometimes the picture is totally shaded red

Hi,

Many factors can affect the image quality of your pictures. If you are experiencing blurry images, please try adjusting the focus ring located around the lens.

This will allow you to focus the camera image on objects at different distances.

Also, make sure there is good lighting. Improving the lighting conditions can improve the image quality considerably.

Connection Issues:

If the image quality is poor while transmitting video over the Internet using video enabled programs such as MSN Messenger, Yahoo! or AOL Instant Messenger, your connection speed to the Internet directly affects the image quality of the transmitted video.

Corporate LAN, DSL/cable modem connections will result in the best image quality experience, while dial-up connections may result in choppy and overall poor quality because of the slower connection speed.

Even broadband connections such as DSL/cable modem may experience choppy video at times because of Internet traffic or slow upload speeds.

If the image appears clearly in the camera software, most likely your Internet connection may be responsible for the poor image quality in your video program.

Changing Display Adapter Settings:

If you are still experiencing a distorted, fuzzy or grainy image, you may need to change the settings for your display adapter.

For optimal image quality, please make sure the video display adapter is set to display at least 16-bit high color or higher.

To change the color palette please perform the following steps:

Click on "Start," "Settings," and "Control Panel."

Double-click on the Display icon.

Click on the tab labeled Settings.

In the dialog box labeled Color Palette, verify the video mode is set to 16-bit (high color) or 24-bit (true color).

Also, check with the manufacturer of the video card for updated video drivers.

Low Light Boost:

If you cannot do anything to improve the lighting situation, some Logitech video cameras have an option for "Low Light Boost."

If there is an option for "Low Light Boost," try enabling the "Low Light Boost" in the QuickCam software.

To do this:

Open the QuickCam software.

At the bottom right hand corner of the camera image box, click on the arrow next to the QuickCam icon.

Choose "Advanced Camera Settings".

Under the Image Enhancement box, place a check mark in the "Low Light Boost" option.

If that does not improve the image quality, try adjusting the other image settings, such as contrast, saturation brightness, gain and white balance.

Click OK when your are done.

Last, make sure that you ae using the latest drivers.

You can upodate them from here.
