It is a ducane furnace it dos not has a cfondensation line when call for heat the board has power but the inducer won't come on, nothing happens, the inducer does not get hot or arm so is not trying to work, what can be the problem. I want to know : if the pressure switch don't work will that prevent the inducer from starting? how can I test the circutboard to makesure is not the board? thanks a lot

I think you answered haft of my question, I also asked you how can I check for a bad preassure switch and a bad circutboard

  • jaraujo553 Oct 12, 2010

I though there is a way to check the preasure switch

and the circutboard with the electrical testing equipment, or not.

I have not try it yet but I will thanks you very much.

If the draft inducer blower motor is not turning, or the fan blades have broken, that can cause that. I suggest you take apart the draft inducer, the exhaust pipe and cap and the hose, then clean everything thoroughly and check the hose for any cracks or splits. check that there are no obstructions in the vent pipe or the cap.
Otherwise, replace the pressure switch, and control board ( might have a bad motor relay). you should have a working furnace after.

You can test the switch yourself. The switch has a rubber bladder that flexes and it attached to it. If it is split, you might get it to move enough with higher vacuum ( you may have to put heavy suction on the pressure switch to get it to work), but it would continually leak air. look for a split hose, fitting, or possibly a crack in the exhaust line. For the board, check behind the relay where it is soldered and physically check for any burning.

you have to do it like i have mentioned above. Good luck.

No heat from furnace, Goodman GMPN080-4 Rev A. Cycle is solid red status light, then 3 flashes indicating open pressure switch because the inducer fan does not come on.

Jimbo, it sounds like you are aware of the operational sequence to suggest using a voltmeter to check the actual wires going TO the combustion air fan...if there is no voltage from the board, the board is bad. Just make sure one of the high temp limits are not open... one may be in the blower compartment on some and one will be near the top of the vestibule and a roll out switch should be near the burners. They should all be wired in series.

Always check the manual reset safty switches as the first step in troubleshooting.

Tip

Vent or inducer motor runs all the time

Usually when the Vent or Inducer motor runs all the time
The pressure switch is usually bad
The furnace board is seeing that the pressure switch is open, so it brings the vent blower on to close the pressure switch but the switch being bad won’t close so the furnace board will keep the inducer motor running continuously.

Brand New Ducane Furnace with Multiple Error Codes

Check your drain line. It appears that water is not draining and backing up into the furnace. Is there a drain trap? If not or if there is no vent on the drain line there can be a vacuum created when the furnace is running and it actually pulls water back into the furnace and when the inducer shuts off it releases the vacuum allowing the water to drain.

Lennox pulse 21 furnace - nothing runs on but control board tries

you will need to verify voltage from the board to the inducer. If you have the installtion manual there is a flow chart for the sequence of operation of the furnace.
The basic sequence is:
1. thermostat calls for heat
2. inducer motor starts and runs for a pre-set amount of time
3. the pressure switch closes and allows for ignition trial
4. ignition is proved back to the board allowing the system to operate.

Verify 120VAC to the inducer motor upon call for heat from stat, if you have 120 at the leads that connect to the inducer and it does not start , the motor is faulty. If the inducer starts use a voltmeter across the pressure switch terminals, a voltage reading of 0 VAC will verify contact closure and ignition should occur.

The pulse furnace was under a factory recall due to breaches in the heat exchanger, unfortunately for you, the Lennox Corp. has ended the program that allowed for an allowance / furnace for replacement. To test the heat exchanger a special kit is required from lennox that will verify integrity of the heat exchanger. (If the heat exchanger seal has been comrimised the pressure switch will not prove and the igniton sequence will be interupted and cause the system to go into "lock-out" mode).I know this is probably not what you wanted to hear. Hope this helps, please list as "very helpful" if it did

The inducer blower will put a vacuum on your pressure switch which in turn will tell the board to apply power to the ignitor. If you have a vent blockage, dirty air filter, plugged condensate line or any blockage of either vent or air intake, the furnace will lock-out and flash an error code on the circuit board. If after inspecting all the above for debris and found nothing, you can quickly jump the pressure switch after the inducer starts to see if the ignitor glows. You could also have a bad ignitor. Yes the lock-out is normal. Looks like you discovered the cause on your own, order a new switch.

f this is a metal vent 80% furnace,Turn Furnace off
and remove the vent that connects to furnace and see if it is plugged.

If this is a High Eff furnace witrh pvc vents for
exhaust and intake air make sure they are not plugged on the outside.

Turn thermostat all the way up,turn furnace off and
wait a few minutes. This should reset any control
board fualt.

Turn the furnace back on, if you have a glow coil
ignitor it should glow red and then the burners should
ignite. If this doesnt happen then:

On High Eff Furnace if the glow coil does not glow red, remove the combustion door to the burners,
turn furnace back on, if the glow coil glows and
burner ignites, you have an obstruction in the intake
air side. If it still does nothing then:

Use caution and remove the exhaust vent from furnace, start furnace, if furnace runs then you
have a problem with the vent system

Furnace not firing up...thermostat said low battery ...installed new batteries. Green (LED) light indicating power to thermostat is off. Furnace still doesn't fire up.

1) Turn the fan to on and if it runs you know that you have line
voltage to furnace and 24volts to the thermostat.

2) You could turn the furnace off remove the doors and get to the
control board. If you can find the Thermostat wires on the board
mark and remove them. If you have a typical Furnace and you
have some electrical background put a jumper wire between
terminals R and W,put the doors back on-there is a door switch
that if the panel is not put back on-it will not run. Turn your power
back on.

3) The Blower motor may come on, the induced draft blower should
come on, the glow coil should glow, the gas valve open and the
burners should come on and the unit should run.

4) If all of this happens, then you have a thermostat problem or you
have bad thermostat wires.

5) If nothing happens then you don`t have power to the furnace or the
little fuse that protects the transformer is blown.

Good Luck

Ducane high efficiency propane furnace, pressure switch problem

A short cycle heat cycle indicat a pressure switch replacement was needed. This did not fix the problem. the problem was in PCV line since the end was filled with slugs and cause the line to backup with water. When this happen the system would stop asking for gas. the water would leak out and it would restart. The problem was fixed by cleaning value at end of PCV. This released the water, two quart of water, that was back up causing problem. Curious if a filter change indicator was providing a clue that was missed?
