I have a 20 gig ipod with no color (made in 2004). I am not sure of the model. This only gives me problems when I attempt to hook it up the the firewire on my windows xp home edition pc. It works fine on other systems. I have a fairly new system (built in 2007). My computer will not recoginze anything having to do with my ipod, but it will charge from my pc. Here is what I have done.... I have installed itunes 4-7, still no recognition. Reinstalled the motherboarddrivers, no recognition. Reinstalled the NVIDIA drivers, Briefly showed the "do not disconnect, as if it was beginning to sync), but no recognition. Searched for newhardware on the ieee 1394 firewire port, no recognition. The 5 Rs, no recognition. Registered my ipod, no recognition. Ran diagnostics (connection and sync tests) from itunes 7 help menu, no recognition. Set ipod to Disk Mode, no recognition. Ran the test from my ipod to my pc to ensure a signal was coming from my firewire port (the connection was good), no recognition. Ran Apple software update, still no recognition. I have left the device on to fully deplete the battery and attempted to connect, still no recognition. As far as I can tell from the 6 weeks I have been trying to fix this issue, I have done all that I can do. Apple offers no assistance whatsoever, so I am on my own here. The firewire port is clearly working and the drivers are up to date. My ipod recognizes the firewire port, but my firewire port does not recognize my ipod, nor does my pc. But the ipod is also clearly charging. I am positive that this is something very simple to fix, can someone please HELP!!

Apple iPod classic(80gig) will play for 30-45' then will stop playing and just shuffle thought the titles. I can reboot the iPod but will get the "plug into computer " message. Will then be able to play after a rest of approx 30 min. Any solution?
