Question about Whirlpool Dishwashers

1 Answer

I have a whirlpool for Ikea dishwasher that is built in and I put it on the normal 30 minute cycle before I went to bed and 8 hours later it was still going. I opened the door and machine was full of suds. It is like it gets stuck and can't move on to the next part of the cycle. I have checked the filter in the bottom of the machine and checked the salt and rinse aid levels.

It could be waiting for the temperature to reach the required level.

Sounds like the heater element has died.

Hi, this is the reset code: Push/Press 1. Heat Dry 2. Normal 3. Heat Dry 4. Normal

Wait about 2 minutes as the controller resets itself. You should see all the leds flash on and then wash and rinse leds stay on for about 30 seconds. A minute or so later it will start working....

Anyone got an answer to this, as I have exactly the same fault.

Dishwasher appears to switch on OK, then after a short time (20 secs?) the pump noise stops and the green light flashes - it seems to e a sequence of 7 flashes, then stop... 7 flashed then stop.

The sequence could indicate a fault detected?

Anyone know anything about these units from IKEA, made by Whirlpool?

Thanks!

I have the same problem. The only temporary solution I have so far is to turn off the circuit breaker and wait between 10 & 30 minutes before resetting the breaker. The the dishwasher will work for one cycle.

My Kitchen Aid dishwasher runs for about 2 hours. Is this normal

It depends on your water pressure. Mine runs a cycle in about 25 minutes, with 92 psi water pressure. Before changing all the pipes in my house, I had about 30 psi and it took about 45 minutes. The longer it takes to fill, the longer it takes to do a wash.

The only button that works is the cancel drain

Sounds like a keypad malfunction or the control board has gone bad.

Whirlpool from ikea DWF415

hazman, depending on your serial number, this model has a bunch of service issues. Everything from the motor rework to the heating element. Sounds like your issue has to do with the heating element. If the dishwasher does not detect a 4 degrees temp. rise in the water in will go into this fault. They have redesigned the board to bypass this fault in later models. Since I don't have a serial number I can't tell if you have one of the affected models, but I assume so. I would call Whirlpool and inquire about any service flashes they have on this dishwasher, you may be covered. Otherwise you would have to do some tests to determine the cause, starting with the heating element. I believe you can clear the fault by pressing these keys in this order: high temp-air dry-high temp-air dry. four key presses...this should put it in the automatic test mode. Let it do it's thing and the fault should clear. For more info on your dishwasher there should be a tech sheet behind the bottom toe panel....Catriver..post back.
