how are your four outside speakers hooked up? If you have four speakers hooked up to only two output channels on the receiver, the receiver is sensing a short and shutting down to avoid damage to the amp.

Location of reset on unit

when you disconnect it from cables, it resets. But i believe that is not the problem. Check speaker cables. I think you have problem with internal power amps. They have thermal and current protection. look for short circuits on speakers or speaker cables.

Won't power up; push power button on, hear click in back left of unti, get nothing on front display and no output from speakers; as if unit trying to operate

Disconnect the speakers and see what happens. Carefully examine the speaker cables for unwanted connections (shorts).
Take a clue from when the power problem appeared. Something was moved and made the buzz a (probable) dead short.

MY JVC CD CAR RADIO DETACHABLE FACE LIGHTS UP LIKE ITS WORKING . LOOKS LIKE IT WORKS THE LITTLE MUSIC BARS MOVE UP AND DOWN (LIKE ITS PLAYING TO THE BEAT)NOTHING COMES THRU THE SPEAKERS. EVERYTHING LIGHTS...

If this unit worked in the past, and there have been no repairs done that would have disturbed the connections, then its quite possible that you accidentally engaged the mute feature.
Good luck...

Speaker Trouble

Michael,

Not being an expert, but having years of experience with electronics, I would think there may be a bad wire connection for the CD unit or a bad unit. If the CD unit is on your PC, you can check the internal connections. There should be a heavier gauge power supply cable and a lighter gauge signal connector. It could be loose at the CD unit or the motherboard. Use an anti-static wrist strap and make sure the power is off. Your cable might be bad and they are easily purchased and replaced. If it is on your "stereo", then check the RCA jacks. You can reverse the left and right RCA jacks to see if the problem is still in the same channel. You could also connect the CD to another line input on your receiver and see if the problem persists.

JVC RX558 VBK, Crackling noise from speakers

A quick quess of mine is the following:

The OVERLOAD indicator lights up when the receiver is maxing out on the current it is sending to the speakers. My guess is there is possibly something wrong with the receiver itself, especially since the B speakers won't play. Either that, or something is broken in your speakers or you are using a set of speakers that have too low an impedance rating for your receiver.
