M-Audio AV20 smells like burnt

Yes, it is possible to burn an IC and not the fuse, because of Safety standards, the fuse has the function to avoid a possible fire, but it should deliver all the power needed by the circuit it is protecting, and that amount of power can burn, in this case, the IC.
From my technical point of view, there should not be a problem to connect the speaker to 110 V instead of 220 V, all that might happen is to have less power available at output, I have no idea about the reason of the burnt IC, but, as we all know, they (the IC's), don't need a reason to burn themselves whenever they decide to.
So, the next step, will be to replace the burnt IC, and that is not a simple task, you need a SMD station and some experience in doing such jobs.
Good luck and best wishes.

I just bought a USB External/GE24 Super Multi Rewriter, with 24x speed. my problem is, when it burns, it burns EXTREMELY slow. I used to have an 8x burner, that would burn in about 5 minutes, and this one...

Hello mklvon,
Welcome to FixYa.Com!
I would like to recommend that you first take a look at your computer. Check if you have a USB 2.0 High Speed port. Reason is because although you have a USB 2.0 Ext Multi-Burner but your connecting it to a USB 1.0 or USB 1.1 port, the Multi-Burner will only run as fast as the USB port can transfer data.
Another time I would like to recommend is for you to take a look at the USB cable itself. As it is an Ext. Multi-Burner it may require a power USB port w/c is the reason why most Ext. Burner's have a Y-connector that is one USB port on one side and the other side branches off to 2 USB ports as it required extra power. If it is, you may want to consider your options as to getting a powered USB port.
And lastly, I would recommend that you take a look at the type of discs you are burning on to. Not all DVD R are the same. Whilst some have 24x speed some can have 4x speeds which can also affect the burn speeds.

I keep having failed burn sessions it says "Power Calibration error" what and how can I fix that

Their could be several possible reasons and solutions for the above error, basically what is happening is for some reason the CD/DVD burning software is unable to determine the Optimum Power Calibration rate (a small pre-burn test to determine optimal laser power for writing), resulting a disk burn failure. There is no easy way to pinpoint the exact reason, so try all the possible fixes from top to bottom (easy to hard) and see what works:
Try using different brands of quality blank media, most common reason for such error's is cheap blank media.
Try burning at lower speeds (Highly effective).
If this fails try a different burning software

Error code:0xeb020ba0 appears when i tried to burn files to a dvd using power to go on my laptop. help pls....

reason fro this could be bad media (disc) or the file that you are trying to copy is truncated. heres how to test which one ha a problem. try using another blank cd. if same thing happens then there is a problem with the file that you are trying to burn. now, burn a different file to a blank cd and check if you can successfully burn that file.

Mixer not working and board getting hot

There is likely a voltage regulator or a diode burned out in the vicinity of the power supply. If you have the schematic, start at the power supply and work through the circuit to the I.C. Also look up the pinout on the internet for that I.C. With the power on test the voltages at each pin on the I.C. You should not have supply voltage readings on any of the signal pins. This is an indication that the I.C. is also burned out. Use a volt ohm meter with a D.C. voltage setting. Also hopefully your meter should have a diode test function. If not you can still test them with the resistance test function. Here is a link to an explanation:http://www.elexp.com/t_test.htm I hope this helps.

Pioneer DJM 600 mixer keeps blowing ic 557 fuse on power supply board

I repair DJM 600 for many years. :) The reason for the burning of IC 557 (+8V H 600mA ) is invalid amplifier for headphones!!!
Replace IC 310 and IC 312 (in big mainboard), and replace
IC 557with original fuse 600mA
!!!!!CHECK YOUR HEADPHONES!!!!!! This is the cause burning amps.!!!!!

You lost your vertical sweep. most likely the vertical output IC or a power supply source is the problem.
