Question about Olympus Camedia D-425 / C-170 Digital Camera

1 Answer

Hi Experts, I bought an Olympus C170 camera 6 years before. It was good... recently due to some problem Technicians changed Lens in my camera.. Now the problem is I feel some delay time while I am shooting.. I am not able to grab the scene which I suppose to take. Once I pressed click button.. it takes some time to get flash/photo. Please clarify what would be the reason... Is there any setting needs to be done in my camera .. or its a camera issue.

When taking a picture, you must press the shutter button half-way and allow the camera to lock in the focus (it will beep) and then press the rest of the way when the moment is right for an instant picture. Is that what you do?

Hello Fixya experts, I recently bought an Olympus

Find out what format you are saving your photos to in the camera. You may not have the correct program on your computer for playback. Did a disk come with the camera with software you are missing? Some camera companies make you use their playback. Often there are settings on the camera to choose how you save the photos/video. If you read your manual you may find you can change that to JPEG and MPEG. Good luck.

The audio codec used in the camera is not installed on your computer. Check the Olympus website to find out what they're using - perhaps there's a download available.

Remove the lens and fire off a few shots. Does everything work properly? Put the lens back on and try it again. If it still won't work, then I suggest you go to the Olympus website, click on support, and e-mail one of their technicians about your problem. They can direct you from there as to wether you need to send it in for service and where.

When I turn on the camera the screen is black. The digital screen works for menu options but is completely black when trying to take a picture

Hi,

The black screen problem means the lens sensor is spoiled due to over exposure to heat. Its better to give it to Olympus service centre. If your camera is under warranty period its well and good they will replace the lens sensor for free of cost.

Thank you

Olympus D560 - the lens will not extend, the camera beeps. I've changed batteries, but "new batteries" can also be dead. Suggestions?

The problem you are describing is a problem with a sensor in the lens assembly of the camera. It seems to have failed and needs to be replaced. Following are the instructions to send your camera to Olympus for service.

http://olympusamerica.com/cpg_section/cpg_servicerepair.asp

Olympus will charge a flat rate repair fee for this product if beyond the one year factory warranty or the warranty is voided. The cost is $87 plus your local sales tax. This covers parts and labor, factory cleaning and diagnostic check, 6 month warranty and the cost of shipping the product back to you is all included in that price.

Olympus Camedia C5050 Zoom

The unusual beeps usually occur when the lens cannot be extended or retracted, often due to dirt in the gearing or the lens cap being left on.
Try using canned air to blow around the outside of the extension cylinder, and, putting a fresh set of batteries in the camera (it probably got stuck on since it couldn't fully retract the lens and didn't complete the shutdown).
If that doesn't work, try taking it to a camera store with repair technicians and having them take apart and clean the lens extension/retraction mechanism.

Can you still take photos? Tell me this If you cannot then it has suffered an internal failure and if it is more than a year old - a new camera may be more economic than paying for a repair. Contact customer support at Olympus for more info
