Question about Dell Inspiron 1200 Notebook

Well i have a inspiron 1200 dell, the battery is not charging it works when it is plugged in but when i take out the wire it turned of.

That usually means that your battery has gone bad.

    Hello, you may find this to be the fault of the charger itself. Dell chargers have a micro thin communication wire that tells the battery to chage and when to stop charging. But this tiny communication wire within the charging cable is very fragile. If it breaks inside, then the laptop battery will not recieve the signal to make it charge. Replacing the laptop charger may be your solution. But it will need to be another Dell charger compatible with your laptop

    Removing a Battery


    Before performing these procedures, disconnect the modem from the telephone wall jack.

    Ensure that the computer is turned off and disconnected from the electrical outlet.


    Slide and hold the battery-bay latch release on the bottom of the computer, and then remove

    the battery from the bay.

    Installing a Battery
    Ensure that the computer is turned off. Slide the battery into the bay until the latch release clicks.

    Try to isolate the battery by plugging the power adapter to it. Then remove the power adapter & press/hold the power button for 5 seconds.     here is one thing you can try with battery wrap it up in aluminium foil put it in your freezer over night this will reballance it and then try charging if it don't work after this battery is dead need new one.

    Dell Inspiron E1505 won't recognize new battery

    It won't charge or work correctly if it's not the correct one and of the right voltage etc.I don't know how the battery even went in if it's not the Dell specified battery.If it went in and looked to fit maybe the battery itself is bad but its hard to say.

    Inspiron 1200 battery light continually flashing orange

    If your battery LED flashes or is solid Yellow or Amber color, this usually indicates battery is beginning to go bad. Eventually it will not hold a charge and will need to be replaced.

    Was the battery a Dell replacement? or was it a Chinese replacement battery?
    Your charging circuit may have been damaged.
