Question about Wharfedale Moviestar 70+ System

1 Answer

I have a 42" LG plasma TV with a number of different inputs including a spare HDMI and component sockets, but have no idea whether there is a cable or convertor to allow me to connect to the amplified base of the Moviestar. Or am I looking at the wrong component and should be connecting to my new "HD PVR" (a kind of decoder) which also has digital audio jacks and an optical output. I really enjoy the 70 system and don't want to put them into storage. Regards Brian Tolmay

Do you have a cable box? with your wharfdale set-up, you could run the video from the cable box into the tv, and run the seperate audio oupputs from the cable box into the wharfdale.

thats really the most common way to run audio, either that or through hdmi- either way, you will need to hqave a cable box to complete the set-up, cause not that many tv's have audio or hdmi outputs.

How do i get the hdmi working

HDMI start by putting one end of the HDMI cable in the HDMI socket on the tv, then the other end in the HDMI socket on the device your are going to use. It can be a decoder, an apple tv or something else that needs an HDMI connection to the tv to work.
Secondly find the remote control and push the input button then there should be a picture on the screen with different possibilities for input. Click where it says HDMI.
You should be connected now,

LG 37LD320H Has a blank sceen only on Satelite input. The line is fine because i hook up a different tv and it works. Any ideas?

So the TV internal electronics for decoding the signal have failed. You could replace the TV. A cheaper alternative is to find a VCR or digital recorder that can take the satellite input in, and put the picture out on an HDMI cable to your TV.

Connecting to HD TV

This TV has no HDMI input socket. It Has a DVI input socket. Therefore you will require an HDMI to DVI converter adapter or an HDMI to DVI cable. The DVI is video only so you will require audio cables from your Sky box (Audio L and R ) which will connect to the back left of your TV (Audio L/R sockets next to the s-video and component video connectors)

You say you have switched AV cables. Have you tried switching input sockets as well? In other words, have you tried using the HDMI socket you normally use for DVD for the cable box input to watch TV? If so, does the problem stay with that input device or does the problem stay with the socket?
Also you say it doesn't matter "whether the cable is connected at all," but I'm not sure whether you mean the cable company cable or the (presumably) HDMI cable connecting the cable box to the TV. Can you clarify?

if I understand your question properly.. its because your direct tv output doesnt broadcast in high def so its giving you the standard tv definition inputs which are RGB or Component.so you will lose picture quality cos its running at fewer lines or pixels. hope this helps

What kind of input signal are you watching? Does the issue happen no matter the input you're using (RF, HDMI, Composite, Component)?
