not sure what you mean "only blinks"

can you tell me what you mean exactly?

  • Ben Dover Oct 13, 2010

btw, first plug it in to a good know charger for a few hours, then, try again...

if that fails... to reset it, turn the unit on, then on the left side toward the bottom under that rubber flap, there is either a small hole or a little slide switch (depending on when your crossover was made)...if its a hole, use a paper clip to depress the reset switch, you'll know its reset if the gps goes off, then reboots...if its the slide switch, turn it on, then slide the switch in the opposite direction, then move it back, the try powering it on again by pressing and holding the power button for up to 10 seconds

Thank you very much for your help! After this hardware reset I see a grey lightning display without any signs.

I guess I need a new firmware. Updating firmware to Vers 2.14 is not possible, when connected to PC. So I have to boot from a SD- Card. But which files do I need and where can I get them?

  • michael_wick Oct 13, 2010

Hi Bill, yes it´s a true crossover, never updated before. I did´nt mention that I have Vista and Windows7 on my PCs, but not windows XP. The update of firmware 1.68 I have downloaded.
Program can be started, but cant´find the crossover. It´s is not shown in the task bar as well.
Is there a possibility to start booting from a SD-Card?
    Best regards

Hey there michael_wick,

you need to install version 1.68 first before the 2.14 unless you have that installed already.

why cant you update it via the USB cable to your computer...all magellan GPS require at least Windows OS XP service pack 2 to sync with the computer.

if your not seeing the crossover listed in your computer, can you see the usb connection wizard in the lower left of the task bar on your computer.

btw, is this a true crossover, or a 2200T thats been upgrated with the crossover firmware?

hi Michael, yes, you can boot from the Sd card, but i hate to tell people how, because its very hairy to do it that vave to enter the boot loader menu (thats the blue screen with the diagnostics feature) typically, when the average user goes in there, they end up formatting the gps, because it is very confusing.....i dont even recommend going in there if you cant back up your files to your pc or an sd rather find out and work at getting your pc to see your gps>

ok, how about trying another usb slot, preferably one in the back of the pc...if that doesnt work, try another usb cable and if that fails, i would hook it to another pc and try it......................

if you try all that and nothing works, ill tell you how to enter the boot loader if you want me to, but i strongly recommend against it.....i would fix this for you for free, but fixya forbids outside contact that prevents me from helping directly...i fix these everyday as a hobby and do very well on "EBAY" buying, repairing and selling gps systems.............good luck Michael ....notice all the ..... hehehe, thats because fixya cant fix the formatting on this comment tab....:o)~ ironic, eh

Hi Bill, thank you for your answer. I think my problem ocurred when resetting my crossover with low battery level. So the shell might be damaged. I got the information, that the folling files are required for booting from SD-Card:

Copying them on a SD-Card and resetting the unit could be a chance to restart the system. But where do I get these files?

    Best regards

  • Ben Dover Oct 13, 2010

those files dont sound familiar,(they look like files for the traffic feature) where did you read or here about those files..the best thing of coarse would be to have the files from another crossover (i have files for an upgraded 2200t but not crossover), sadly, i just sold my crossover about 2 weeks you have friend that has the same model...if not, lets try this, start the gps as far as it will go, then put a formatted sd card in your crossover and then reset it and see if it puts a folder on the sd card with the unit id on it, then reboot it again and see if you can see the card in your gps on your computer...."im assuming you have already verified a good charger and charged this up for a few hours"

btw, why did you rate me a 3Thumbs even before im finished helping you?

i have to leave for a few hours, but hopefully i can reply before i go to bed

  • michael_wick Oct 13, 2010

In I found the file list, just some minutes after your information. Sorry. I thought this might be a easy solution.

  • Ben Dover Oct 14, 2010

can you post a picture of your crossover turned on..i just want to see what the screen looks like..if you cant post it here, maybe you can upload it to something like or something.

  • michael_wick Oct 15, 2010

I give up ant thank you for your support.

  • Ben Dover Oct 15, 2010

nah, dont give up...if you can find me on ebay (fixya TOS says,im not allowed to contact/link you to me directly) ill fix it for you for free, providing theres nothing wrong with the hardware internally.

Hi my panasonic CS-PS18NKQ is not working, timer indicator keep on blinking.

• To make a diagnosis
1. Timer LED start to blink and the unit automatically stops the operation.
2. Press the CHECK button on the remote controller continuously for 5 seconds.
3. "- -" will be displayed on the remote controller display. Note: Display only for "- -". (No transmitting signal, no receiving sound and no Power LED blinking.)
4. Press the "TIMER" or button on the remote controller. The code "H00" (no abnormality) will be displayed and signal will be transmitted to the main unit.
5. Every press of the button (up or down) will increase abnormality numbers and transmit abnormality code signal to the main unit.
6. When the latest abnormality code on the main unit and code transmitted from the remote controller are matched, power LED will light up for 30 seconds and a beep sound (continuously for 4 seconds) will be heard. If no codes are matched, power LED will light up for 0.5 seconds and no sound will be heard.
7. The breakdown diagnosis mode will be canceled by pressing the CHECK button continuously for 5 seconds or without any operation the remote control for 30 seconds.
8. The LED will be off if the unit is turned off or the
RESET button on the main unit is pressed.

When you have the error code, you can narrow down the problem.

ONE: Unplug it for at least 4 hours. That is what we call a hard reset.

TWO: If the hard reset does not help, then it will need further diagnostics.

The following bulletin may be of help in your learning about what is going on. Please refer to it below. Then let me know if you need further assistance.

Have a great day,

Sony Blinking Codes
Many of the later model Sony TV's have a built in Self- Diagnosis function. If
the timer/standby indicator is blinking, this could be an indication of the
problem with the unit. The diagnostic blinking will occur automatically with no
action required by you to engage it.
The timing of the blinking you see would be as follows: two to eight blinks
(depending on the fault) about a third of a second apart, then pauses for 3
seconds, then the two to eight blinks about a third of a second apart again.
Here is a list of the problems that might have occurred indicated by the
number of blinks. The words in parentheses are those which you will see for
each of these faults on a diagnosis screen described later in this article.
Unit is dead and there are no blinks---Problem in the standby power
section. Might check fuse, R607, Q601, IC601, R612 and VDR601 (should
show open)
Continuous Blink Once A Second, No Pausing As Discussed Above---
No reply from the jungle IC301 (data bus is busy, shorted to ground or held
high), IK video path is defective.
ONE Blink--- not used for the self-diagnosis
TWO Blinks---B+ over current protection (OCP) , unit goes to the standby
mode then displays the 2 blink fault. Could be a short in the power supply of
any of the circuits.
THREE Blinks---B+ over voltage protection (OVP), unit goes to the standby
mode then displays the 3 blink fault. This is also a problem in the power
supply circuit, check T603 and R672.
FOUR Blinks---No Vert. Deflection (V STOP), Screen goes to a single
horizontal line then the video signal muted. Check IC1509, Q1505
FIVE Blinks---AKB circuit (AKB), the timer/standby indicator blinks for about
30 seconds then goes to the self-diagnosis function. Something is wrong with
the video. Check video out, Q705, 732, 761 and other components on the C
board, also check Q218, 219, 220 on the A board. Also unit be in IK blanking,
try turning up screen slightly.
SIX Blinks---No Horizontal (H STOP), no raster, goes to the blinking selfdiagnosis
function immediately. Check C515 & 516 and the jungle IC, IC206.
SEVEN Blinks---High voltage shutdown. The high voltage has exceeded 33k
and the unit goes immediately into safety shutdown. Check power supply
regulation and horizontal circuits.
EIGHT Blinks---Problem with the audio (AUDIO), unit goes to standby and
blinks the self-diagnosis code. Check IC406 audio amp, PS401 and 402.
Intermittent problems ?? This is a great feature. You can also bring up
these fault codes ON-SCREEN to see a list of the problem numbers with the
abbreviation of the problem and the number of times this problem has
occurred. This is slightly different than entering the service mode. To see the
diagnostic screen, Press the following buttons:
Display, Channel, 5, Vol Minus, ( Not plus ) then Power. This brings up
a screen with a list of the problems and number of times they have occurred.
Each of the problem names is abbreviated as, "OCP", "OVP", "V STOP", ETC.
We have repeated them in parentheses in the text for the "Blinks" described
above so you can correlate between the diagnostic screen and the blink
So, now that you know about these self-diagnostics, how do you use them?
Say that you have a set with a black screen. You see that the LED is blinking
4 times....This would tell you that you have no vertical and that is why the
video is muted. If it was blinking 6 times, you would know that you have a
horizontal fault.
It's not a sure cure, but it's a little better than a poke in the eye with a sharp
IMPORTANT: after you repair the unit, PLEASE clear the values on this
diagnostic screen. These codes do not reset themselves after the fault is
corrected, so if you don't clear them, you'll be seeing "old" fault codes the
next time you enter this screen.
Clearing is done by going into the service mode ( display, channel, 5,
volume plus, then power ) then press 8 and Enter, which of course returns
everything to the factory preset condition.

Green light but no display- most likely main transformer is gone (60%), 35%- blown main fuse, 5%- bad display or power supply. You are lucky if unit is still under warranty. Solution- repair shop.

My clock will not display the outside temp. after battery replace

Try replacing the AA batteries in the main clock/display unit - that worked for me, then you'll probably need to press the reset button next to the AA batteries, and maybe the reset button next to the AAA batteries in the remote unit - press reset on the main unit first. My remote is now registering and the red light is flashing, but I don't know how to reset to the correct time and date - it's been scanning for a while and found nothing...

Blinking light

the light blinking is an error code. you can count the number of blinks from a brief pause. it would continue to blink the same number of blinks after a brief pause. count this blinks and you can help the incompetent person that installed your unit to diagnosed the unit from the error codes that you will give him.

if you unplug the unit, it will reset and run again. after a few minutes, the sensor would sense the trouble and turn off the unit and display this code again as a blinking light.

tnx for using fixya.
