Question about Nikon COOLPIX L20 Digital Camera

1 Answer

I don't see why people love this camara... I usually have it on portrait mode because any other mode will make my pics blurry. When I have it on portrait mode when i take my pics it flashes twice (i dont care if it's daytime) and my pics come out great but for whatever reason I switched the mode to smile and the shutter became slow and my pics come out so blurry and awful! I want my flash to work twice again so my pics look good! i have a baby and now I'm missing great things because this freaking camara is not working and i just can't figure this out! help please

In portrait mode the pre-flash helps prevent red-eye in your pictures. You can set the flash to do this in other modes. As far as improving your pictures, are you pressing the shutter button half-way and allowing the camera to lock in the focus (it will beep) before pressing the rest of the way or do you just press the button all the way every time hoping to get lucky?

i always press the button all the way but now it does not work that way, now it does it half way and then it makes a sound and i have to click again but by the time i click again of course my baby moved and i dont have a good pose anymore! I think it has to do with this ISO that is now at the left corner of my camara and it wasnt there before! how do i get rid of it?
    thanks for your help :)

Shutter too slow and pics of people blurry. I have the camera on auto setting, push button half way down, focus, then all the way, take the pic. If the subject is moving AT ALL, the pic comes out blurry....

If your camera has a sport or action mode that would be your best option if your pics keep coming out blurry. These modes are made for action shots. Its worth a try!

Blurry pictures

Hi,
I know they look great when you preview them on the LCD, but remember they are a lot smaller, Before you acept the shot, tak a few seconds to zoom into a detail (i always go for the eye to see if it is in focus - most imprtant on a portrait) if you are shooting (not in automatic mode) and are using a slow shutter speed 1/60th or less you will get blurry pics, you have to be at least that and open your apeture to let in more light, or change your ISO start in 100, then 200 to see if that helps. You didn't mention if you had a vibration lens, if you do make sure it is swithed on when hand holding the camera and OFF when you are using a tripod (otherwise they will be slightly out of focus) let me know if that helps or you need more.

Automatic "Portrait" mode would work best for what you describe. It's the setting showing the profile of a woman on your mode dial. Try it both with and without flash (press the "lightning bolt" button on the back of your camera).
