No screen after Boot

It will show the windows starting screen. And before it loads the desktop, the screen goes blank. Same thing when using the external monitor port. Found a similar problem listed, but I can not see anything with the screen held close to a light.

Dageezer, F8 does not work. Rebooting via Safe Mode does not work.

Falseadress, how do I reformat if I can't even see what's on the screen after the boot screens?

Alright, well I found the Driver CD. Tried that, still didn't work. Loaded the XP Home recovery CD. That also failed. Screen went blank after a minute of the Blue Screen for windows reload. Thanks for your help guys, looks like I might be out a laptop after three years.

If you cannot get any video past the Windows Splash screen, then the video adapter is likely failing. If under warranty call the wrrany department. If not then a replacement motherboard may resolve.

If you can boot the XP CD, and re-install XP, that may resolve, but from the description, the video adapter is failing. (You can format the drive in the XP setup.

I would reccmond the same thing as the previous poster but you should but if all of that fails, reformat the system. Sometimes the F8 options fail you.

I think its a bad CCFL inverter. You should try looking at the screen closer. I had fixed a problem with a laptop that had similar problems.
Give me a model number of the laptop and i will try finding you a replacement part.

Try booting to the safe mode (f8) and see if there is any difference. If there is no difference, the video adapter is most likely failing.

If you can boot into the safe mode, then reboot and try the vga mode on the same menu, if you can boot to the desktop, then try to increase the resolution. if it fails, try a new video driver.

Emachines E528 laptop won't start

Try to boot it from safety mode.
and try to restore your system first.
If the restoring is failed, boot safety mode again and back up your files.
If you can't boot your laptop from safety mode, use anti virus program CD like norton.
Mostly, your system is messed up by adwares, spywares, and virus.
If all things fail, you should check your HD.

E640 REBOOT

Hi John,

I see you mentioned you update IE9 then you now get a blank screen...

If I may ask the blank screen showed up after the update or did it show up after restarting the computer?

If your getting a Blank screen when you boot into windows after the IE9 update, try rebooting then boot into Safemode.

Restart you computer then as soon as you see the Boot screen of you computer keep on Tapping f8 to get a list select safemode, then once it boots into safemode windows will load up in safemode on the issue and you can navigate arround to fix things that went wrong.

click on the Start Button on the lower left of the task bar then, click on Programs, select accessories then select system tools, look for system restore then select the option select a different restore point, on the window you may see a list of restore points hoping your system restore was turned on in the very beginning, once you have selected a restore point keep on clicking next then a warning will show just click next again then it will restart your computer.

System restore allows you to restore to a date where you had windows working fine without any problems so if you can get a restore point before updating IE9 then it is possible that you may be able to fix you windows back the way it was.

I hope that this will help,

I have a Dell Dimension 24000 that has been in storage for a year. I recently tried to boot it up so I could find a couple of files. It starts booting up; windows logo appears and shows things are loading...

try starting in safe mode.

when you power on the PC, start tapping the F8 key on your keyboard.

this will give you the option to start in safe mode and can possibly let you find out why you cannot start up.

if it does start this way, you should at least be able to retrieve the files you were looking for.

Hi jime;
what operating system are you using? is it XP? what recent changes did you do to your pc? software or hardware installed?

open up your pc and re-seat your RAM. and see if you can boot up. Or upon booting, tap F8 and select Last Known Good Configuration.

here is the link below and try #10,

MONITOR GOES BLANK

Did you recently change or install a program that would affect the resolution and card output? Try booting into safe mode by holding the "shift" key during boot. From there right-click on the desktop and hit 'properties'-> 'display properties' -> 'settings' , check your resolution and drop it to 800x600 and then reboot. If everything goes back in normally make sure you have the right windows drivers for your video card. You can also check the driver version and settings while you're in safe mode. Sometimes the windows update drivers can act screwy and I would recommend getting them directly from your card manufacturer.
