Question about Whirlpool RF365 Electric Kitchen Range

2 Answers

The innermost glass window in the oven door on my Whirlpool range is broken. I ordered and have received a new glass, but how to get in there to replace it is the problem. I have taken the outside of the oven door off, still cannot get to the innermost glass (there are 2 others outside of it). Please help!

This is NOT a microwave oven. It is an electric range with self-cleaning oven below. I have the oven door apart with the outside taken off, now there are 2 other glass windows before I can get to the broken innermost window and I cannot get the metal of the inside door to come apart so I can insert the new window.

I have removed every screw I can find. There are 4 that require a socket that I did not have. This is the small glass windown (about 6 x 20), not the big one in the front of the whole door (I have taken that off). KS

Never mind - had an appliance repair man come and finish the job. The final set of screws were under the strip of stick-on foam insulation around the inside door; plus needed a socket wrench for the others. Thanks anyway. KS

You will have to remove the screws on the sides holding the frame and the inner glass panes.
See items 1 and 4 in the assembly diagram here. Hope this helps.

Not sure if i have the correct model for your range. Is the glass window you mention listed on the diagram on the website I sent. Which item no. is it?

If not, then I have not got the correct model of your appliances. Can you please let me know what are all the characters in the model no. after RF365.

Please note before you can be able to fix in the glass of the oven you will have to remove he oven door carefully fix in the glass then return the door back on the oven carefully you can do that with below solution carefully.

Instruction on how to removing the door carefully.

Removing your microwave door allows you to quickly clean out any accumulated food or grease. This also makes it easy to get to all the crumbs and debris around the door hinges. While you have the door off its hinges, examine the plastic panel and glass window for signs of damage. Make sure you install a replacement door that is designed for your brand of microwave to ensure that it will fit correctly.

  • Remove the power cord from the electrical outlet and move your microwave onto a workbench or sturdy table. For cabinet-mounted microwaves, pry off the decorative grills or front panels and remove the mounting screws. You should then be able to slide the microwave out of its mounting bracket.
  • 2 Open the microwave door and remove the glass tray. Use a flathead screwdriver or putty knife to pry off the plastic cover on the inside of the door work. around the edge of the glass until the cover slips free.
  • 3 Remove the door by pulling the mounting pins out of the hinges at the top and bottom. You may need an assistant to steady the door so you can have both hands free to work with the pins.

  • Replacement Instruction.after fixing the glass.

  • Unplug the microwave and set it on a table or workbench. If you have a built-in microwave, you may have to remove some mounting screws or retention clips to get the microwave out of the support bracket. Open the door and take out the glass tray.
  • 2 Pry off a corner of the plastic panel on the inside of the door with a screwdriver or butter knife. Once it is loose, work the screwdriver or knife all the way around the glass and remove the panel.
  • 3 Ask someone to hold the microwave door as you disconnect it from the hinges. Depending on the design of your microwave door, you may have to remove a set of screws or slide a pin out of the hinge to release the door. Remove and discard the old door.
  • 4 Have your assistant hold the replacement door up to the hinges. Attach the door to the hinges by reversing the previous step. Snap the plastic inner panel into place around the glass. Move the microwave back to its original location. Insert and tighten the necessary mounting screws if you are working on a built-in microwave. Set the glass tray back inside the microwave and close the door.

  • Thank you and thanks for using fixya.

Interior Range Window cracked - How to Replace

It is simple enough not to need a manual.
1- open the door, then pull outwards. The door mounts slide right out.
2- lay flat on a towel on the floor. Remove screws on the inside of the door.
3- remove each piece and layer of the door and glass panels. Set them aside in order so you know how it goes back together
4- replace broken inner glass panel
5- put each piece back together, install screws
6- slide door (mounts) back into their homes on the front of the range

It is surprisingly simple. All you need is a #2 Phillips screwdriver and a bit of patience.

Tip: make sure to clean each glass panel while you have the door apart. Use a razor blade for those stubborn burnt on stains.
