Hi, empty the recovery tank of the Hoover SteamVac if the cleaner fails to pick up dirt. Once the tank is full, many Hoover models have an automatic shutoff that stops the cleaner. If the does not resolve the pickup issue, check the hose of the machine and remove any blockage.
Examine the water tank if water does not dispense from the SteamVac. It could be empty and need of a refill, or you may not have locked the dispenser firmly in place. The detergent tank should also be looked at and filled if empty.
Check to make sure that the lid locked down all of the way around. If yours has a foam filter on the inside of the recovery tank lid, make sure it has at least a 1/4 in. gap from the top. There is a filter, from the bottom, has a red casing, remove it and clean it. Also make sure that the removeable duct in front of the recovery tank is in place.
Which you had posted your model number, If you have a foam filter on the inside of tyhe recovery tank lid, make sure there is at least a 1/4 in. gap between the lid and the top of the filter. Make sure that the lid is locked down in the back, try to push it up, if it is locked it won't move. If yours has a place for a duct in front of the recovery tank, make sure it is there and pushed all of the way down.
Check the seal that the clean water tank sits on, may have come loose. The filter inside the dirty water tank has been pushed up too far, needs to have a 1/4 in. gap from the top to the top of the filter.
