Question about Air Tools & Compressors

1 Answer

My 26 gallon Husky air compressor runs fine until the PSI is at 35, then it will go no higher, although the compressor continues to run. This problem has evolved gradually over the past 4 years. I have sprayed water on all the visible joints and can detect no leaks. Is there something else wrong or is there a leak somewhere that I just can find?

Husky 26 gallon air compressor doesnot get any higher than 25 psi and keeps running

If the compressor isn't shutting off then there is a leak somewhere. Have you closed the drain valve under the tank? if the valve is closed, remove any attachments from the air hose and check the hose from end to end for leaks. Also check that the safety release valve is closed. It is usually brass and has a small split ring on top. If no leak can be found in the above locations then it is internal to the compressor, the piston rings or valves are not sealing.

HUSKY 26 Gallon Shuts Down After <75PSI!?

Possibly the pressure switch needs to be adjusted to reach a higher pressure. Trace the power cord into a box that also is piped into the pressure line from the compressor. If the pressure works itself back down again, use thread-locker fluid on the adjustment screw to hold it's setting.

I have a Husky model Y6010 air compressor.

First remove the valve using probably about a 1/2" wrench but make sure there is no pressure in the tank before you do so. check the cone and seal by loosening the valve by hand and check for debris. If there is no debris then the problem is either the pressure relief valve or weak pressure regulator but may also be a bad piston seal if it is a direct drive unit.
