I've just recently moved into an apartment and I'm not sure how old this dishwasher is, but every time I wash dishes my glasses come out with crusty(like sand) stuff on them. Once this stuff is on there it is hard to get off even if you hand wash them. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to fix this problem?
-   I to have recently begun to have this same problem. it just began 2 weeks ago. I was looking for the solution online here but since we have the unfortunate problem without the solution I will try to fix this myself and hopefully post an answer for us.

-   We are also new in an apartment with the exact same problem! Crusty-sand like hard crud on the dishes. Especially on the outsides of the glasses and very difficult to clean off with hand washing. It also accumulates on the vent on the inside of the door. Has anyone found out why this happens and what was the solution?-   quaggie

-   My roommate and I have the same exact problem, we are looking for an online manual to find a trap to clean. This crust is really upsetting us. Hope it helps. If we find an answer, we will respond.
I never figured out what caused this problem. I cleaned it and took it all apart, could not find any debris lodged anywhere. However, I solved this problem! I now only use Cascade Complete dishwasher detergent. Has to be the "complete" version of Cascade. No more grit - nice clean dishes now and sparkling glasses.
