Amp turns on but puts out no sound except for faint noise which dies out after a few seconds.

It sounds like a defective/incorrect AC-to-DC adapter may have caused your problem. These adapter come with different output voltages, AC or DC output and different amperage ratings. AC-to-DC adapters list the polarity of the DC voltage as it relates to the DC power plug and you must match both the devices voltage and power requirements. As for the amp...not working on batteries either, I would suspect output transistors or IC.

Tip

How To Diagnose No Sound Output From Your Vehicle Stereo

  1. Check each Subwoofer or Speaker that isn’t working for continuity - At the subwoofer or speaker, one at a time, test the terminals for Continuity using your Digital Multi-Meter; if your DMM doesn't have a Continuity test, use the Resistance, or Ohms, test and check for Resistance in the Subwoofer Coil (be sure to disconnect the subwoofer wiring before performing these tests).
  2. If they test out good, hook the wires back up and test the terminals at the terminal cup or at the Amp hookup if you didn’t use a terminal, don't hook it up to the amp yet. Sometimes the wiring inside the box can be a problem if it has come loose, or isn't making a great connection.
  3. If you have a Sub or multiple Subs with Dual Voice Coils, or multiple Subs with Single Voice Coils, make sure your wiring is correct by checking here: http://www.the12volt.com/caraudio/woofer_configurations.asp
  4. Make sure there are no Hi-Pass filters, crossovers, or multi Channel switches enabled.
  5. Replace your RCA cable/s with known working RCA cable/s from the Source/Head Unit to the Amplifier/s.
  6. Check your Head Unit settings; make sure the Bass is turned up and/or the Subwoofer setting is turned On.
  7. If you are still getting no output, try plugging in an MP3 player or CD player using a headphone to RCA adaptor and check for sound output. If there is still no output, your Amplifier outputs are probably burned out.

Marshall Amplification Marshall MG2FX Guitar Combo Amp power turns on but no sound

Hi!
At this point, I would just take it to a tech rather than poke around in it. It sounds like the power section is the problem as you have guessed, but without the technical knowledge you'd be shooting in the dark. That particular amp is right on the line of being expensive enough that would be worth repairing, but you might do just as wel to check Ebay for another used one.
Good Luck!

Want to reset ECC (ECM) on 1995 Mitsubishi Mirage 1.5L. Don't know if I am doing it right

This procedure is knowed as "soft reset", and you will must keep in mind that, if some anti-theft system is instaled there, the no start condition could appears after disconneting the battery.

Additionally, could try and check if the starter is cranked when turn ignition key, or no click sounds there? Could be a battery charge, starter or ignition swtich issue.

Hope this helps; also keep in mind that your feedback is important and I`ll appreciate your time and consideration if you leave some testimonial comment about this answer.

Thank you for using FixYa, have a nice day.

If you check your head unit it should have a "remote wire" output at the wire dock.
This is the wire that tells the amp to turn on every time you switch the head unit on to listen to music.

Then you need to run a positive wire from your battery with an inline fuse to the amp. (Make sure you use thick wire, if you skimp and use thin rubbish wire it may catch on fire/heat up and will also result in a huge performance loss).

You need a negative wire also the same thickness, that bolts directly to body somewhere.

If you go to an auto sound shop they should be able to provide you with a amp kit for around $20 bucks. In my experience its far less hassle than messing around trying to make one up from scratch.

Because they come with the sound cable wiring and all the electric wiring cable and all necessary plugs ect.

Thats my advise anyway.

How to install Rockford Fosgate 3sixty.1 to a Toyota factroy head unit?

You will need a line level adaptor to get an audio input for the amp.

A line level adaptor is a device that lets you tap off of your speaker outputs of the radio and it converts that signal into the proper level for an RCA input signal the amplifier uses.

If you are installing the amp in the trunk of the car you can just tap off the speaker outputs of the rear speakers mounted in the trunk. Keep the speaker outputs connected to the speakers, just run an extra set of wires from them to the line level adaptor. It will not take anything away from the speakers sound because it is not a power drain on them.

After that, you just connect the power wires for the amp as you would normally and you also need to run an extra wire from the radio power antenna wire to the remote turn on of the amp, or you can use a wire directly from the battery and connect it thru a switch you would need to connect somewhere around the dash, so you can turn the amp on and off when you need to. The power antenna wire from the radio is best, so you don't need to turn the amp on and off manually. It is easy to forget about turning it off sometimes and that would run doen your battery if the amp is left on over night even with no signal going thru it.

Then connect your speakers to the amp and thats it.

Then big issue is getting an audio signal to the amp and the turn on signal for the amp.

If you need more help let me know,

Dave
